"Babe, listen". Daniel took her face in his hands. "We're going to the hospital right now. You have to calm a bit down, baby". He wiped her cheeks that were wet with her tears, his fingers shaking as well, but he had to get her out of here without panicking himself. Gudrun was crying with the pain of the cramps and the realization of what was going on. She nodded with a sob and Daniel helped her to get into the clean pair of shorts. He took one of his sweaters to pull it over her head, taking her into his arms to lift her up and get out of the bathroom. Daniel walked through the hallway, snatching his car keys from the holder and rushing out of the house. He unlocked his car and let her in first, shoving the chair a bit back so she had more space. Her cries were piercing through the night and he had to try his best to keep being the one with the straight mind.

The tires screeched when he drove away, his hands tightened around the steering wheel. "It hurts". She whimpered and Daniel almost broke at the sound of her voice that reflected fear, hurt and so much sadness. Daniel drove harder than the speed limit on his way to the hospital and he sloppily parked his car, lifting her out and getting her to the emergency entrance. "Sir...". Nurses stood up as they saw him rushing inside. "My wife... She- She's having a miscarriage, she's panicking, it hurts". Gudrun sobbed against his chest and the nurses immediately got her a hospital bed to get her to a doctor. "No, no! Daniel!". Gudrun wanted to stay with him, reaching out for him as they started to roll her away. "I'm here". Daniel walked along with her. "Sir, you can't stay". The nurse stopped him and he looked at Gudrun from over her shoulder. "You can see her later". She had an apologizing look in her eyes.

Daniel's heart broke as he heard her screaming his name, the panic cracking her voice. Gudrun's breath was uneven and she was probably having the first panic attack she ever had in her life. The world was turning and she was crying, barely having the air in her lungs to get the sobs out. A mask was placed over her nose and mouth and her eyelids suddenly felt so heavy. Her screaming faded away and she was fighting the sedative, yet she didn't win the fight. It was agonizing for Daniel as he didn't know what was happening. He was told to wait in the waiting area and he sat down while his mind was getting giddy. This was something you never guessed that would ever happen. He started to think that it was because she traveled along with him, too much stress, too tired. And he put his stress about his Red Bull contract on her to, god how stupid.

He rubbed his temples and sat back in the chair that became uncomfortable by now, shoulders heavy with the burden he put on himself by thinking too much. It perhaps took an hour for the nurse to come up to him, but it felt like he sat there for a day. Legs stiff with sitting in the same position for a long time, throat dry from not taking any water and staring at the floor in front of him. It was almost three in the morning by now. Daniel was sure there were large bags under his eyes. He was tired and all he wanted was this to be just a bad dream. The nurse would come up to him and tell him to wake up and it was over. Yet of course that wasn't true. Daniel leaned his elbows on his knees and heard the shoes of the nurse through the hallway. She looked at him with a small smile, however he could see it wasn't genuine, it was the standard smile they all had on their faces.

"Mr. Ricciardo". She started. "Your wife is slowly waking up now. It took so long, because we had to sedate her to calm her panic". She explained. "Our baby?". Daniel asked, standing up. A hint of uneasiness was visible on her face and her smile sunk. "I'm incredibly sorry for your loss". Daniel swallowed hard. "Since she was a bit longer than 12 weeks into the pregnancy, we had no opportunity to keep the baby alive, as it...". "It was alive". Daniel felt the tears prickling behind his eyes. "It had a heartbeat on the latest ultrasound". The nurse friendly said as they slowly made her way to Gudrun's room. "How did it happen?". He asked, his jaw clenching. "Blood clots, the baby didn't get enough blood". She shortly said. "You can visit her now. If you need anything, you can call". She left him at the door of her room and Daniel looked as she went. Daniel went into the room and saw her in bed, the heart rate monitor next to her and some more things around her.
