Hockenheimring Baden-Württenberg Am Motodrom, Hockenheim, Germany. July 26-28 2019.
"Oh, Daniel. I think you have a visitor". Nico nudged Daniel's side. They were having an interview almost mid season. It was for the media page as they were doing a 'Truth or False' game together, seated in the German sun outside the Renault hospitality. The girl behind the camera sighed as both men were now distracted, cutting the tape for a pause. It was fun to work with Nico and Daniel, but they were practically never serious. Daniel's eyes lit up when he saw his beautiful wife talking to Cyril Abiteboul. Her arms were wrapped around the new born she kept to her chest, the small girl now a month old. Everyone of Renault was cooing over the little girl, congratulating her and Daniel with her. The last weeks of her pregnancy had been tough and tiring, giving birth for the first time was the most painful thing she had ever experienced, but that was all forgotten when they could hold their baby girl.
Her name was Blair, a Scottish name Daniel wanted to give her. Blair had the eyes from her father, but the dark brown hair from her mother, that formed the tiniest mop on top of her head. Gudrun was wearing a summer dress that floated around her figure, comfortable for her skin of her stomach that needed to adjust to the sudden weight it didn't have to carry anymore. Daniel knew he had to stay seated for the interview that was about to continue, but she was already on her way. "You can go, the camera is paused". The Renault media girl said with a playful role of his eyes and she walked away for a break. He jumped up to meet his wife, a smile on his face when he saw their daughter in her arms. "Hey, babe". Daniel's hand leaned on her waist when he kissed her. "And my little princess". He cooed when Gudrun handed her over to him. Blair laughed, her small, baby sounds immediately warming his heart.
She grabbed onto his fingers when he held her, her smallest fingers having a hold on his. "She just had a nap". Gudrun explained, looking at the two. "Ah, that explains why she's so smiley now". Daniel smiled at his wife and leaned forward for another kiss. "She's popular today". She said when he gave her back to Gudrun. "I can tell". Daniel chuckled. "It's because she's got her beauty from her pretty mama". He flirted and it made her laugh. "Hi, Gudrun". Nico joined them and she smiled up at the tall German. "And the cutest little Blair". Nico caressed her chubby cheek when she looked up at him with wide eyes. "You're watching the practice today, Gudrun?". He asked and she nodded. "Thought Germany would be a good weekend to have the family complete". She replied. "It's close to home". Daniel added, obviously feeling the need to be protective over his little feeling.
"And the most beautiful race of the calender, of course". Nico grinned, making Daniel chuckle. "I'll see you guys later. Egle is not here, but she was dying to see the little one, Gudrun". He kissed her cheek before leaving the pair. Egle was Nico's girlfriend for quite a long time now and since Gudrun was often with Daniel in the pit box, the two met and they got along pretty well. "You brought her earmuffs, right?". He hummed when they walked through the paddock to get to the pit boxes. "They're in my bag". Gudrun said, nodding to the bag she wore over one shoulder. They stopped and Daniel zipped it open to get the ear defenders out, wanting to make sure she was safe for the sounds of the loud engines. He placed them over her head and it looked adorable. "Oh my god, let me get a picture of this". Daniel chuckled and Gudrun held her in her arms, smiling for the camera.
The earmuffs were almost too big for her head and she seemed to find it funny too, her giggle sounding when she padded her hands over the muffs. Daniel went to get dressed in his racing overall and Gudrun spend the time talking to some of the mechanics who were clearly in awe with the little girl she brought. Blair was impressed by everything she saw, luckily she wasn't afraid and she didn't start crying. Gudrun noticed that she was very tired after everything she saw, Nico's car starting up was very impressive and Daniel's helmet and its colours were very interesting as well. Her eyes were getting droopy when Daniel was about to get into the car. "She's almost falling asleep". He chuckled when he took her over for a last time. He lifted her into his opened overall, the tight material keeping her pressed to his chest that felt warm with the black undershirt under it.
Gudrun melted at the sight, especially when he hummed her sleeping lullaby and stroke her small head. "You're not crying, are you?". Daniel lifted her chin and she laughed. "Hormones, babe. Everything is fine". She smiled, letting him pull her gently close, their baby in between them. Daniel kissed her forehead and they hugged like that for moment, before it was time for Daniel to get into the car. Gudrun sat down on a chair and held their sleeping daughter close, watching how he got in. She didn't need to tell him he needed to be careful, because she knew that he kept her and the light of their lives in mind wherever he went. It end, it all turned out good. They started their family, Daniel was scoring points with Renault. They were happier than ever.
