G'Day

How strange it sometimes is
to have a point of view:
Who is this dag* 'I AM'?
And who the hell are you?

Pimped out in tricks of time
eternities up sleeves,
Id smears his stale birdlime,
anxieties to seize.

In replays of old wounds,
past battles rucked anew
in failures and decays,
the abyss yawning through

the long night's troubled panes,
wind rattled, slammed and shook -
but miscreants in chains,
paled Dawn lets off the hook.

'Philosophy away;
scat all inward debate;
dark drained again to day,'
says Tongue, 'lick up yer plate'.

*'Dag' is what's stuck in the wool off a sheep's bum and is used as an endearment for an amusing character.

G'Day

The Sancho Panza cockatoos
dismiss all monsters of the mind
as much as they must banish too
those nuances we moping find
'G'day! G'day!' is all they say;
they suck the juice and drop the rind.

They devastate the tree of thought
and leave a mess of echoes there;
but when all curses die from lips
ears find a silence they can bear
between their screams a minute skips -
although that time is dearly bought.
