Good Friday

106 24 15

The Thomson river doesn't care
how many sangas opened there
or juicy bottles sucked like Babe
where langourous folk loll and outgrabe.

No p'licemen there to say 'Move on!'
reflections ravel thereupon,
the tangled boughs in sky and stream
expect to rake our ego dream.

Cyclists, walkers all agleam,
courteous greetings cross midstream,
dance out distance tenderly
as breezes move boughs slenderly.

This autumn day so shrifty kind,
will leave its plectrums in the mind:
did ever smiles travel so clear
and droves of families cycle there?
