Cluster of coronavirus cases in Melbourne is at a meat-processing plant - surprise surprise. It happens because crammed in, migrant workers are not paid when sick, and the management discourages them from taking time off anyway. This is common in the many countries, particularly the USA. No doubt to factually challenged xenophobes this will mean exploited migrants are equated with the danger of Covid 19 .
This whole issue slides down the scale from minor exploitation all the way down all too frequently to modern slavery. Neoliberal / Neocon Capitalism is keen for us to either forget these victims or view them as non-people beyond the concern of compassion and certainly beyond the control of regulation (red-tape), so blood-drinking exploiters can have a free hand.
So the state takes away their livelihood by closing up places of work, but refuses to acknowledge their need of support, or the state insists that they are essential and must work in squalid non-distanced conditions in danger of getting the virus .
