I was surely hyped for the bet that Constance chose to do after losing the game. She chose putting the tee shirt in the freezer and putting it on. I didn't think that I would lose, but I also didn't expect to let her get away with winning. I made sure to have a big clean white tee shirt for her to try on.
I finished my shower, got dressed in something casual a plain tee and some red jersey shorts with my Retro 12's and stepped out to the cafeteria. I walked inside of the cafeteria entering the kitchen and waited for Constance to roll through. I began to think she was stalling as I counted on my watch, what time it was and looked up to see her ambling inside of the kitchen.
There was a smile on her face, but yet the smile didn't reach her eyes. It looked like she been crying, as I began to feel my heart saddening. I didn't like to see her crying, especially whenever I told her that I didn't want to be the guy to break her heart again, and I promised that I'll try my hardest to keep her happy.
I immediately held out my arms, as I watched her inch closer and closer until I hugged her tightly but made sure that she was able to breathe and have room.
"What's wrong baby girl?" I asked, looking down at her with my eyes watering a little. "You left happy but you're sad now."
She slowly raised her head up, and stared into my eyes before stepped back.
"Is it me? Did I hurt you or something?" I asked a bunch of questions that'll probably be why she was sad all of a sudden. "I promise you it wasn't my intentions, I know you called on the bet but I didn't want to make you do the punishment, we could call it off and just chill in my room or you room, or something.."
"No, it's not you Darius." She tried to hold her smile but it happened making me feel a little better. "I'm sure if what I'm going to tell you is good or not; because I wasn't told what happened so I'm just stuck with worrying.."
"What's bothering you then? You know you could trust me baby girl." I reminded her.
"I do trust you Darius." She sighed, holding my hands and entwining our fingers together giving me a look. "I..I received a phone call...from the.."
I waited patiently for her to continue as she kept staring at the floor then at my eyes as if she waiting for my reaction.
"From the mental health clinic." She finished.
My breath quickened, "What'd they say?"
"Not much," She raised her chin. "The lady said and I quote 'Lamont has been doing really well so far' but that was all to it, then asking me about contacting your parents and them not answering the house phone, I'm sure they weren't there but I can't help but to worry about her reason for calling."
"Bruh!" I dropped her hands, not intentionally before I felt the need to lean against the wall, so I did just as that and rubbed my forehead. "I thought he was just doing good."
