I was In Love, something that frightened me so much. I wanted a future with him, and I wanted him to leave me alone to find happiness yet he found it in me and loved me back. I definitely changed my mind on a lot of things, I did a goal and that goal was to become a professional psychologist. I was planning on going to school for psychology and also business. I had a goal that I would be truly successful one day, and would be married.
Oh how much I loved Darius was scary and this made me call up my mom. I could feel my heart beating fast as she finally answered the phone and hearing her voice had me shook.
"Hello?!" She answered the phone.
"Mom, I have a lot to tell you.." I told her, as my mind wandered off to Darius. "I know you won't think it's real but it is. I've never felt this way before."
"Constance, what has gotten in to you?" She asked. "What are you talking about?"
"Well.. you remember Darius Murphy?" I started.
"The Murphy's oldest son?" She guessed. "Yeah, what's up with him?"
"Uh...we're dating." I beamed. "You remember me talking about him a lot back home?"
"So you're dating your crush, well he's raised by a great family since we've all been to church together and I always liked that young man, and his younger brother...Wait I've heard from his parents about him, is he okay? The younger one? What's his name?" She replied.
"His name is Lamont and yeah he's doing a lot better." I smiled. "But yes mom, he really makes me happy and I honestly feel like I'm in love. I know you might not agree but it's really real mom! Also he's helped me find my goal you know, in college."
"You're in love? What you know about that?" She laughed. "But I hear happiness in your voice which is good to hear. I'll have to meet this young man, since he has you in love or whatever. You sound like me whenever I first met your father and he had my heart in his hands. But what's your goal? And how'd he help with that?"
"Well.. he's different. He has goals and wants something in life mom." I couldn't believe it. Every time I talked about him, it gave me chills, had my heart skipping beats and butterflies arriving in my stomach. "We started off only as friends and he knew that I love helping others, and giving advice which led me to wanting to be a psychologist. I feel like it's best for me and it's something that'll I enjoy."
"Psychology? You'll be in a school for a good while for those degrees but I'm proud of you." My mom, seemed surprised to hear that coming from me. "You'll do great and make sure your little friend makes a visit to the house okay? I plan on meeting him, and of course your dad has a lot of questions to ask."
I laughed. "I will, probably after camp is over with."
"Okay! Glad to hear from you, there's a lot of happiness in your voice." She told me with a laugh. "I love you Connie."
