Her eyes fluttered open, but only pitch black greeted them. She tilted her head, trying to figure out where she was.

Liana?

The whisper was faint, but it was definitely there.

Jerik! You're alive? She smiled, but was instantly hit by a wave of worry. Is Taylor okay? What are they doing to you?

His mental voice paused, as if it was hesitating. Interrogation. And they're going to use me as a bargaining chip, and execute Taylor on live television as an example.

Crap. Do you know where you are? She felt a cold shiver crawling up her spine.

They had us blindfolded, but it's somewhere close by. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to reach you.

She rubbed her temples. Do you think you're still on the island?

Another whisper replied instead of Jerik's. I do.

A smile crept onto Liana's face. Taylor?

I linked him into our conversation, Jerik's voice replied.

I managed to get my blindfold off, Taylor said. We went through this dark tunnel or cave. It required one of the officers to give a blood sample to gain access.

Could it be the tunnels under the island?

I thought that too at first, but there was too much sunlight.

Liana tilted her head. I'll consult the others. How much time do I-

Suddenly, her world turned blindingly bright, and she saw a thousand Bluebloods lined up on the shore, cameras shoved in their faces and guns pointed at their temples.

What's going on? Liana asked. She wasn't exactly in the picture, she was watching it.

Taylor just passed out. Jerik responded. His voice was panicked and rushed.

Is he having a vision? Can you see this too?

I see it. Wasn't this the vision he had a week ago, when Xina was assassinated?

It was. She searched through the Blueblood crowd and locked eyes with herself. A metal collar was wrapped around her neck, but she had no idea why. How come you're not using your powers?

The collar, Jerik replied. It limits abilities.

The guns pressed harder into the Outcast's temples, and Liana flinched as thousands of earsplitting gunshots rang simultaneously.

Blueblood ran along the beach, blending into the turquoise water and staining the pure sand.

No matter how you try to forget us, we will always be there.
