The guards led them down several winding hallways, webbed with thin piping that contained the Teleporters' blueblood. Liana shut her eyes tightly and tried to reach out to Jerik, remembering what he had taught her about mind- linking.

Push your consciousness into theirs, force them to hear your message.

She closed her eyes and reached out, but her heart was beating a million times a minute. There was no way she could build up that much concentration, as nervous as she was.

Liana was tempted to bust one of the large pipes, but then the officers would figure out that her collar didn't completely block her ability- and separate her from the others.

Demitri flinched, noticing Allie's slip- up.

"Please, Demitri, they aren't going to go anywhere!" she stage- whispered, tapping Liana's collar.

She watched them with hate in her eyes, trying to calm her nerves. If only she could mind- link Beth or Corey-

Liana flinched as a needle was injected at the nape of her neck, but she tried to stay still. She closed her eyes, once again trying to mind link before the drugs took over her brain.

Push your consciousness into theirs. A tingling feeling took over her legs, and they spasmed and jerked beyond her control, like they weren't part of her body anymore.

Force them to hear your message. The feeling spread to her torso and wrists, which flicked back and forth desperately. She closed her eyes, holding her breath, concentrating as hard as she could.

And then... her head filled with warmth and a rush of thoughts. It was a strange sensation, like being plunged into a scalding hot tub- but after a few seconds, the shock receded and she got used to the water.
