I saw the saying... and this vision of my yesterday/year/century sprung to mind.
Truly... inside this septuagenarian lives the once-vital spark of that young woman above, intent on her job. Whilst the memories are strong, the desire to repeat them has faded somewhat. (Can't imagine why...)
Maybe this has something to do with the Beatles' song 'Yesterday' that also sprang to mind - and just begged to be parodied. (Sorry Beatles... but you were one of the loves in my life as I 'teenaged' my way through the 1960's - and was married, too!)
Yesterday, squirting down the dairy every day,
The dairy yard that took so long to spray,
I'm so glad it's not yesterday!
Suddenly, on my computer I would rather be,
No dairy stink overwhelming me,
I'm SO happy, suddenly.
Why cows had to go, I sure know, we'd had enough,
We said something right, now it's gone...
it's yesterday-ay-ay-ay... yesterday!
So here's to all the yesterdays, and to knowing how it all turns out... so far!
And I particularly like the famous Oscar Wilde's thought -
'Be yourself; everyone else is already taken'
