He can't tell you about the love and devotion that is yours to take, his to give, every day of his life. He can't tell you how happy he is when you come home and 'make his day' just by being there. He can't tell you of his gratitude for any kind word or touch. And, saddest of all, he can't tell you when you have totally disillusioned him, betrayed his absolute trust and broken his sweet, loving heart. He can't tell you... but I can!
I can tell you that I cried for him tonight when I heard yet another miserable tale of mindless cruelty. I cried and raged at the ever-increasing number of inhuman humans in our world. I cried so because some time ago I held a dog in my arms while that same injection was given, and watched through my tears as life died in her loving, trusting eyes....'
This was our Gypsy and mine were the first hands and the last she ever knew.
