These Four Walls

Nineteen

"I can't believe I'm meeting you Jade." He tells me as I stand beside him. "Yeah, me too." I tell him honestly.

"When Harry called me I was in utter shock. Your mam told me she got an abortion. I understood why she wanted to at the time so I just left it alone." He tells me.

"I didn't believe Harry at first but then he told me so much about you and I had to meet you. I'm sorry it had to be in here though." He adds.

I take a deep breath and then I feel myself gravitate towards him. I lean in and give him a hug out of the blue.

It startled him but he returns the hug anyway. "I'm sorry too. I was confused and I was scared that you didn't want to meet me or that you wouldn't accept me." I tell him after I let go.

"Why would you think such things? Didn't your mam tell you anything about me?" He asks me.

I shake my head, "No, actually I didn't know about you until about a few weeks ago. My life has just been turned upside down which is why I was so confused and didn't know the right thing to do." I explain to him.

"What? Harry didn't tell me that part." He tells me, "I guess it wasn't his place to tell though. He's a really great guy, you're very lucky." He adds.

I nod and smile at the thought of Harry. "Yeah, he's literally perfect. These past few weeks I've seen a completely different side of him, one that I didn't even know he had." I giggle.

"Enough about Harry, your wife is here. She's outside with your kids if you want to see them?" I ask him.

"Yes, I would like that very much but could you stay with them? I want you to meet your brothers. Also Harry can come in as well." He tells me.

"I'm just gonna get them." I say to him and leave the room to get his family. As I walk towards the waiting room I think of how my life is literally changing before my eyes.

I feel wetness at my cheeks and realize that I'm crying. I don't know why but they are endless.

I reach the waiting room and see Harry playing with the twins. His wife sees me and runs towards me.

"Jade? What's wrong? Is he okay?" she asks me. "He's okay, he's great. You are very lucky to have married him." I tell her and offer her a hug.

She smiles and leads me back to the boys. "He would like to see you all." I tell them and the boys stop playing with Harry and run to their mom.

"Hey baby, how are you doing?" Harry asks me and kisses my forehead. I smash my face onto his chest and just breath him in.

"I'm great Harry. Thank you again, you are the best thing to have happened to me." I whisper so that only he can hear.

He leans down to kiss me and I hear the twins say 'Ew!' which causes us to stop and turn towards them with a laugh.

"Let's go see daddy." My father's wife tells them. "Mum, who is she?" One of the boys point to me.

"We'll let daddy explain that." She tells him and I just lead them towards his room.

I open the door and we all walk in one by one. The boys run towards him and he leans down to pick them up on either side of his bed and lifts them on the bed.

"Honey, please be careful. You just had a heart attack." His wife tells him as she moves to stand beside his bed.

"I've missed you boys!" he tells the twins. "We missed you too daddy." One of them tells him.

"Harry, thank you for saving my life. They told me that you did CPR on me till the paramedics arrived." He tells Harry and offers him his hand.

Harry shakes his hand, "It was the right thing to do. How are you feeling?" He asks my father.
