Chapter 42 - I Remember Just Wishing To Be Happy

I laughed as I watched Kis dog jump off of Kis lap and into mine. Ki jokingly pouted.

"I could sit here forever with him" I said as I kissed the top of Baxter's head.

"I know I'm such a great guy" Ki joked making me look up at him. "I'm playing I know you talking bout my little bax" I smiled and shook my head.

"Baxter lets cuddle" I said and laid down on the couch with my head on Kis lap. I had Baxter on my chest as I pet him.

"I'm taking him everywhere I go" I heard Ki say.

"I would too" I agreed.

"My mom sent me a few more pictures" Ki told me. I looked up and he was handing me his phone. I was on his messages with his mom and I saw she sent three pictures. I smiled at them.

The first one was of us on Halloween when we were 8. He was Superman and I was a princess. Kinda basic, but we were only 8. We were standing outside his house and we were holding hands while our other hands were holding plastic pumpkins for candy.

The second one was us sitting on the curb watching my dad, Xavier, Kis dad, Kis little cousin, and my uncle playing basketball in the street. We were 12. I had family over for a barbecue and of course Kis family was invited. I remember I just wanted to sit and watch the boys play basketball, but Ki didn't want me to sit alone while everyone else was in the backyard so he didn't play.

And the third one was of us the day I turned 16. We were sitting at my kitchen table and my birthday cake was sitting on the table. I had already blown out my candles. I remember just wishing to be happy. Ki was sitting next to me and we were both smiling widely at each other.

"Can you send me those?" I asked as I handed Ki back his phone.

"Yeah" he answered me. "There's hella more, but we was like younger then 11 because we didn't like taking pictures that much when we got older. There's like a few of those, I think. Like when we was 12 and 14 or whatever." He told me. I moved my head a little so I can look up at him. I smiled softly.

"Yeah I remember. Our moms loved taking pictures" He chuckled and nodded agreeing. Ki went to talk, but my phone started to ring. I answered it after seeing its Faith. "Wassuppp"

"Yo what you doing, girl?" She asked me.

"At Kis" I answered her.

"Oh well I needa tell- actually, I needa send you something. Have you and X been okay?" She asked making me a little nervous.

"Yeah we've been great actually. Why?" I asked.

"Has he been out at all without you?" I sat up and leaned against the couch instead of on Ki.

"A few times. Why? What's going on?" I asked her.

"Well some hoe posted something bout him. Ima send you the link to the post so you could see everything" she told me. I started to get more nervous. What was this post about? "I'm not saying it's true by asking you those questions. I was just asking because if you know it's true, ima kill him" she added. If what's true? I need to see this post right now. Please don't let this shit be bad.

"Ight send it to me" I told her. We said goodbye and I hung up.

"Your Uber is here" I heard Ki say. I looked over at him and smiled.

"Thank you again. I could have gotten my own"
I said as I stood up. He stood up too and shook his head.

"I could just drive you" he offered again. I shrugged.

"It's all good" I grabbed my bag and picked up Baxter one more time. "Bye cutie" I said before putting him down. "I'll pay you back for the Uber" I told Ki. He laughed.
