Honesty

Loki sat me on the bed and found a mid-green, knee length dress, with a black ribbon around the waist.

I grabbed some under clothes from my bedside draw and quickly slipped them on whilst his back was turned.

"Here, let me help." He slid the dress over my head, then kneeled on the bed behind me and zipped up the back.

"Thank you."

"It is nothing, just promise me you will work on your control?"

"I swear upon my life, as it may be at risk otherwise."

"So you will inform your sister of this issue?"

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "As I am unable to think of an excuse that would not require throwing you to the wolves, I suppose I must."

As I stood from the bed, Loki quickly took my hand and wrapped his arm around me as support.

"Truly, I am fine."

"Your face says otherwise."

I looked into the mirror on the door, my skin was more pale and my usually indigo eyes were now a greyish blue colour.
"I do see your point, but still, are you not uncomfortable? And why do you care this much?"

His eyes darkened, as if recalling a troublesome memory. "Am I not allowed to be kind?" He smiled quickly at me.

"Well...yes, you are..." I could not deny his right to that. "Thank you." My mind wandered as we made our way down the hall. How strange it was that not so long ago I thought I was mad, and now here he was, walking with me in my own home.

Now seated on the lounge with tea, Hljóð and Thor sat on the lounge across from Loki and I.

"Are you unwell sister?" Hljóð asked.

"I have been keeping a secret, which relates to my connection to Loki."

Her eyes widened and she seemed as though she were intent on jumping on him and beating him an inch from life.

"I am not pregnant!" I stated quickly, which calmed her and confused the other two.
"When I am severely upset by him, or he is upset, my body seems to attack itself. My stomach aches and causes me to throw up blood. My skin peels like it is paper turning to ash, and my chest burns as though it is on fire, causing me great difficulty breathing."

"When did this begin?" Asked Thor.

"Is has happened before. When Loki fell from the bridge, when I saw Thanos-" I stopped myself, I could not say that. "-mess with his mind. Any time he is in great distress, my mind is distressed, and my heart sets off the attack. It was quite bad before, therefore I have yet to fully recover."

"What did you say to her?" Hljóð yelled at Loki.

"It was not his doing. I deceived him to receive information, but it caused the opposite effect. It was my own fault."

"If you insist sister, but I do not trust him."

He seemed upset by that comment.

"You are to be kind to him, he has helped me greatly and has good intentions when given the chance. Why do you overlook Thor, he nearly caused a war out of pure hate and lust for blood. At least when Loki does it he has thought his plan half through."

"Excuse me, but I have made peace with the Jotuns, why must we bring such things of the past to the present?"

"You have not made peace with Loki, nor have you apologised to me for eavesdropping."

His face held shame when he realised what heritage three quarters of the room held. "I do apologise for my ignorance."

"It is okay, I was merely trying to take some heat from Loki, and you were the easiest to single out. I hold no grudges against you." I smiled and he seemed fine with my intentions.

"You are too kind to him young sister. I can not hope to understand your logic."

"And I am fine with that. I do not understand much of your logic at times, but what we must do is trust the other's judgement with their decisions."

She nodded and smiled, knowing I was often the more mature of us.

"Now that we have all made nice, may I ask what we are to do now?" Loki asked, leaning forward and looking to me.

"The Dark Elves will be about soon enough, we must prepare for their arrival. In regards to you Loki, I am unsure how we are to present you to Odin. He must be tiring of your awaited arrival."

"I will speak with father, I am sure I can find a way to persuade him in Loki's favour." Thor grinned.

I could feel Loki's hatred bubbling, both for Odin and Thor. I took his hand in mine. "Thank you, Thor. If he could only see what is to come, he would most certainly give Loki his freedom."

"Then it is settled, you shall accompany me to Asgard and show my father what is to come."

I looked at him with an unintelligent expression, then glanced at Loki, hoping for his logic to intervene.

"I suppose it must be done." He stated somberly.

"What in the nine realms has taken a hold of you both? I can not merely waltz up to the Allfather and tell him I am in possession of knowledge not even Heimdal possesses. Heid, offer them sense!" I looked to my sister, who seemed guilty.

"I must be truthful, I see no other way. I apologise sister, I know you must be anguished by this idea."

"You have all gone mad! I am of Jotun blood. I will be thrown into the dungeons to rot! Do none of you care for my fate?" I stood and stormed off through the backdoor, laying on the grass of the back yard.

A cool breeze passed my face as I stared at the dark blue sky, lit with stars and galaxies. It was the middle of winter, but this night was dry and calm, though dew lay upon each plant, dampening my clothes. The temperature must have been around five degrees celsius, but the cold had never been a problem for me. I suppose I now know why.
I looked at my hand and arm, concentrating as hard as I could.

Lines trailed my now blue skin like tattoos without ink. I closed my eyes, feeling the cold take over, it felt nice, like walking around the house without clothes when alone. Knowing you could be caught, knowing it was wrong, but it just feels so natural.
I felt a presence beside me, but did not flinch.

"You look beautiful in the moonlight." His smooth voice half whispered.

"You are a comedian as well I see."

"I do not joke, you are more beautiful now than you have ever been."

I opened my eyes and looked over at him laying beside me, his skin the same as mine, his eyes a blood red that almost glowed in the reflective light. I smiled, running my hand along his face.
"Why must everything be so difficult? Why must we be fed so many lies? Can we not just exist as our own self without fear of angering those around us?"

His arms slipped behind my back and pulled me close to him, I felt warm in his embrace. "One day we shall be free, our hearts shall mend and our minds shall rest."

His words calmed me as his arms tightened, my face pressed to his chest as it rose and fell with his breaths.
He placed a kiss atop my head.

We lay watching the night sky, his shoulder was my pillow, as my hand rested on his stomach.

After a while, I sat up and looked into his crimson eyes and smiled. "I will go see the Allfather, for you."

He seemed surprised. "Thank you, my beloved."

We kissed for a moment, then lay back down in each other's arms.
