"Daddy? What are you doing? Can you play with me? I'm bored." The 9 year old had pushed open the door of his father's workplace, a lab. He pushed past the machinery and test tubes, mysterious liquids bubbling and raw specimens that made his nose bleed.
"What are you doing here?! I said you can't come in!" His father shouted loudly at him, the moment he saw the boy in front of him. The 9 year old trembled in fear, tears threatening to escape his eyes. His father never shouted at him like that before.
"No...I'm so sorry my boy. Daddy's too caught up with work. I didn't mean to shout at you like that, okay? Come, daddy will go play with you. What do you want to play?" His father sighed and smiled slightly to the boy. The boy's eyes lit up immediately and replied excitedly, "Toys!" The older man chuckled and lifted his son up. "Yes lets go play with your toys."
As the 9 year old got carried out of the lab, he caught a glimpse of what his father was working on. A body. It was a dead body lying on the stand. The boy wondered, What's that?? He was old enough to understand that a dead body did not mean anything good. But then again his father was a scientist. It could be related to his job.
The latter shook his head.
Must be the trick of the light.
