Chernoa's pov

Rie was looking at me with pity in her eyes. "Good can come out of even the darkest acts. You don't have to fight. Let us do it. Why don't you go rest and shake off the trauma." She rested a comforting hand on my shoulder. I nodded weakly.

Watching her walk away with a sword in hand, I stumbled into the bathroom. Splashing water on my face, I sighed deeply. Looking at myself in the mirror, the image of Lionel exploding kept replaying in my mind. The body parts. The blood. My eyes trailed to my shaking hands.

 This is all my fault.

Stepping out of the bathroom, I saw my friends all engaged in battle. Collapsing on the ground, my breathing quickened and I buried my face into my palms. First my parents, then my sister, then Wayne. And now Lionel.

Am I fate's plaything?

Chyann's pov

"Well then. Let's do this the old fashioned way, shall we?" Jacckie's lips curled up into a thin smile. We were circling each other, both of us on our toes, anticipating the other's move. Raising my fists, I realised Jacckie was bigger than me and probably had the upper hand. No matter.

Damn it. Staring at each other isn't going to bloody work. Advancing forward, I threw a punch forward, but she dodged it quite effortlessly, and also leaving my left side open. With a sickening crunch, her fist connected with my jaw, snapping my head back.

Blood was rushing to my ears. Shaking my head, I ignored the stinging pain at my jaw. Fine, I'll just fight smart then. Knowing her inability to keep her temper check, I allowed taunts and insults to roll off my tongue.

"Why don't you go run back to your defeated master? Not very strong for a villain is he?" I could see her tensing up, which meant she was taking the bait.

"Seems that the master took lots of damage from just now. It won't be long before we take them out." My heart was pounding in my chest, seeing Jacckie clench her jaw. "You asked for it!" An angry punch met my face. I staggered backwards, but I grinned. "That the best you got?"

With a loud roar, a wave of punches was headed in my direction. They were rash, allowing me to dodge them all easily. Jacckie was already exhausted. Now! Slamming my foot into her gut, she fell on to the ground in pain and exhaustion. Pulling her up by the hem of her shirt, I allowed myself to continuously punch her in the face. My knuckles stinging every time it met her cheeks, feeling the blood from her nose flow onto my knuckles.

"Disgusting." Shoving her back onto the ground carelessly, I pulled out my gun and aimed it at her. "You deserve this." She did not reply. As I pulled the trigger, a figure jumped onto me, making me miss, giving the defeated girl a chance to run away.

Clenching the gun so tightly my hand almost hurt, I massaged my neck and said, "Chernoa, you're going to have to give up soon."

Rie's pov

Every time the cold metal met, I tried to get used to it. I tried not to flinch, because Charmaine wasn't. She wore no expression, neither did she speak. The way she wielded the sword and the gracefulness of her technique and style was enough evidence to show Charmaine was a master of sword fighting. And I was certainly not.

I tried to strike her side with the blade, but much to my displeasure, it was met with the clanging of metal. "You're weak." Charmaine's voice was hard. Before I knew it, she had cut the skin of my hand, making me hiss in pain, the sword slipping from my grip.

"It would be cowardly to fight against an unarmed person with a sword wouldn't it?" Charmaine was smirking this time, throwing the sword onto the ground.

A fast, straight punch to my unprotected jaw and my head whipped back, arching my body backward. The punch was strong enough to knock me off my feet, my body feeling the pain of sharp edges of rocks piercing through my skin. Charmaine had bent down to look at me.

"Weak."

Collecting my thoughts, I used my energy to throw a punch at her, making her stumble backwards with surprise. But I knew it was not enough to beat her.

After a few moments Charmaine was smiling venomously at me. "Try harder next time." Then a foot kicked me in the face and I could remember no more.

Xander's pov

The boy was chuckling sadistically with glee as his knuckle connected with my face. Letting out a shout, I dropped to my knees—not incapacitated, but going for my boot knife. "Begging for mercy already?" Alden laughed maniacally, making me look up in fury. "Not a chance." Jumping up swiftly, I cut the skin on his cheek, making him scream in agony.

"Who's the one going to be begging for mercy now?!" I could tell fury had coloured his vision red as he started swinging skilled and accurate punches at me. Cracking my knuckles, I laughed, "Oh yea? Not good enough." I was getting impatient. Going into the boy hard, I was instead being arm locked by the boy.

"Coming from you, it's really funny." Alden sneered, attempting to twist my arm from its socket. Not uttering a word, I swiftly locked his leg with mine and flipped him over, slamming him on the ground. Yet I was not expecting him to lock my neck with his arm. Gasping for air, I knew I would not be able to escape his iron grip and elbowed him in the gut. As soon as I felt his arm loosen, I freed myself and sent a tight punch up his jaw.

Exhaling deeply as I watch him recollect himself, wiping the blood off his chin while smiling. He's a tough guy. We were both beat down already. Nobody won.

"You're good. I'll give you that." Alden grinned at me before dashing off to join his comrades.

"You too! I'll beat you next time!" I shouted at him.

"I'd like to see you try!" The boy shouted back as his figure disappeared in the distance.
