Eva sat Zayn down on the bed and made him speak. She had found out that Zayn was her best friend when they were little. The night his family went out for dinner was when Zayn found out what he was. He changed, unwillingly, and murdered his own family not knowing who they were as a wolf. As a wolf, still not knowing, he dragged everybody in his family to an unknown place. When he had all the bodies there, he transformed back into a human, and realized what he had done. So he ran.

It wasn't long before everyone knew about the family gone missing, and he knew his best friend would be the saddest person when she found out he was gone. So one day, when Eva went to the park, he confronted her. She instantly recognized him, but he stared deep into her eyes before she could say anything, and took all the memories of him away from her. This happened about a year after he went missing, so he had some time to find out a few of his powers, and erasing memories was one of them. When she came back to reality, Zayn was gone, and she had no memory of him being in her life whatsoever.

But Zayn still dearly cared about Eva, he knew there was some type of connection between the two of them, he just didn't know what. So he stalked her afterwards, but he preferred to call it protecting her. He was always there, watching her, and making sure she was safe. When he followed her to the store when she moved, he couldn't help but talk to her. He missed talking to her, and being her protective best friend.

"So, no one had ever found your family?" Eva asks him, still trying to take everything in. She couldn't look into Zayn's eyes right now. Not after he took her memory of him once.

"No. The place where I hid them is so secret, I can only find it when I'm in wolf form. And that's only after I kill somebody." Zayn answers. He was staring at her, wishing she would look at him, but she just stared at the ground. Eva sat and thought for a moment.

"Why don't you just take away my memory of you again? That way I would forget your a wolf, and I could go home to my family." Eva found an answer in all this, even though she never would want to leave Zayn again.

"I can't."

"You can't or you won't?" Eva asks, finally looking at him.

"Both." He pauses. It was him who looked away this time. "I don't ever want you to forget me again. I love you to damn much. And even if I did take your memory away, I would still have to keep you here, other packs are still hunting you." Eva closes her eyes, and bows her head. She could even feel the danger, and she knew from the start it was impossible for Zayn to take her memory away again. They sit there in silence, soon hearing a small knock on the door. Zayn clears his throat before speaking. "Come in."

The door opened slowly, and only enough so the person could stick his head, and part of his shoulders inside the room. "Hey, I'm getting hungry, can I go hunting?" It was Damion. He had been here at the house protecting Eva all day, and hadn't left to eat or anything.

"You may. But be back before sunset. I want all of you here to help protect Eva tonight. The other packs are still wanting to kill her.

"Yes sir. And Zayn? Damion asks, needing to tell him something. Zayn gives him a look of questioning, as he wanted an answer. "There's more of the pack here. They heard you were the new Alpha, so they are on your side now. The are outside waiting for you."

"Thank you Damion. Tell them I will be right out." Damion nods, and leaves the room, shutting the door. Zayn acted different around the other wolves. Probably because he needed to act like the leader now. Zayn turned towards Eva. "Let's go." He grabs her hand, and pulls her up from the bed. Before leaving the room, he pulled her close to him, and looked into her eyes; Not to take her memory, but just to look. "Your eyes are amazing." He says. He then leans down and passionately kisses her.

After their kiss, he grabs her hand and they leave the room together. Zayn leads her out of the house, and onto the front porch. There, on the big patch of dirt they called a driveway, stood about 20 men and women. More men than women in particular. All their mouths quieted, and their eyes directed to the porch where Zayn and Eva stood.

"Welcome." Zayn starts and than after a short pause, continues. "Family." And that's when every single one of them start bowing. Not all the bows were the same. Some just bowed their head. Others knelt down. Some bowed their head with their arm over their chest.  Zayn takes a big sigh, and then nods, obviously not used to this at all. He was about third in command before the fight, so he only used to get quick bows of the head. "Thank you. As many of you know, this is Eva." He gestures to Eva, putting an arm around her waist. "My mate."

You could hear gasps from some of the crowd. And then a women spoke. "I though that you fought Rex for leadership, and to save a friend. Not some girl you now claim to be your mate."

"Don't say his name. I do not want to hear his name ever again. Now that's an order." Zayn snaps, and stares at the girl with death in his eyes. Eva looks at Zayn, and started imagining what he could do to her if he changed on her and didn't remember. She got scared, and had to look away. She could barley pay attention to when Zayn spoke again, even though it was the real reason why he fought.

Soon, she couldn't stand the tension between the wolves anymore, and she turns back into the house in a hurry. She enters the kitchen, to grab some water. She finds the cups, and chugs a glass. After she was done, she turns around to go back into Zayn's room, where she felt safe. But when she turns, she runs into the girl Zayn threatened to rip apart earlier. "Well, if it isn't the human." She says in a cocky tone. Eva tries to ignore her, and push past her since she was in the way. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Away from you." Eva says and gets blocked for a second time after trying to leave.

"But I want to have a little fun. You, me, and maybe a transformation that will give you nightmares." She laughs creepily. Eva had to be strong.

"Move." Eva orders, but it took everything in her to not look her in the eyes. Who knew what powers she had.

"I don't think that's going to happen." She says. Her arms were outstretched in either direction, and her hands were on each side of the door way. "Don't you want to play?"

"Marissa." You could hear a very warning voice. The girl apparently named Marissa rolls her eyes and turns around to the voice, folding her arms. Of course it was Zayn.

"What?" Marissa snarled. All Zayn had to do was stare her down, and she walked away as if she was in dog form with her tail in-between her legs. She walked out the door and disappeared. Zayn looked up to Eva.

"You okay?" He asks.

"Yeah. What is with her?" Eva really wanted this information.

"She jealous." Zayn says.

"Of me?" Zayn nods.

"But, besides that, we have some bad news." Zayn warns. Eva looks him in the eyes, scared. "But we have good news too. Which one do you want to hear first?"

"The good news." Eva answers. They were sitting up the kitchen table now.

"The good news is, out of the other four packs, three have decided that your life was too much worry for them." Zayn starts.

"And the bad news?"

"The other pack is still determined to take your life." Zayn sighs. They both sit in silence for a minute.

"What does this mean?"

"It means that we might have to go to war. But I'll try everything I can to not let it come to that."
