Maybe I was a bit naïve to think that this plan would work.

Are people actually going to believe that James and I are a couple? I really don't think that they will. It's too sudden and too weird, right?

Regardless, I put on my best happy face as I said goodbye to mom and walked outside where James was waiting for me in his truck.

I guess dating means; the boyfriend drives the girlfriend to school.

At least I don't have to spend any money on gas for a while. There's a win already.

"Hey, stop at Dunkin." I say as James drives down the road.

"Why? Dunkin is out of the way." He says, glancing at me for a second before turning back to the road.

"Because, I'm your girlfriend and I want an iced coffee." I smile sweetly, though there is nothing sweet about my tone.

"Hm, and here I thought this would be easy." He mumbles, as he turns left and goes toward the opposite direction of school.

After we make our small detour, James drives us to school and once he parks in his normal spot, I suddenly freeze.

"I don't think I can do this." I admit, slowly looking over to James.

"Sure you can." He smiles.

"No, like, I'm a terrible actress. No one is ever going to believe that we are an actual couple. They will see right through me." I say and James tries not to laugh.

"You're cute when you're nervous, Sky." He grins, and I honestly never thought about smacking somebody, as much as I had with James.

"I'm serious. They're going to know it's fake." I say, and James' smile falters.

"No they won't. I promise. Just pretend like we really are dating. Act how you would if this were real."

All I do is stare at him.

"You really think this will work?" I quietly ask.

"No doubt, babe." He smirks.

I roll my eyes and sigh, before grabbing my bag and getting out of the truck.

I hear James laugh as he gets out of his side, and then he locks the truck up after both our doors slam shut.

I take a sip of my iced caramel coffee and smile at the simple fact that despite the chaos I'm about to endure, I can be happy in the fact that I have this coffee, in this moment.

Of course, nothing ever lasts.

James appears to my right, and casually slings his around over my shoulders. He leans down and I almost choke on my coffee as he kisses the side of my head.

"Okay so that, that you can't do anytime we show affection around everyone else." James mumbles into my ear as I fake a smile and discreetly wipe the small bit of coffee that dripped from my mouth due to my near choking.

"Well, warn a girl next time." I grit through my teeth as I look up at him lovingly.

"Pretty sure my arm going over your shoulders was the warning." He sighs, and we fake smile as we walk towards the front of the school.
