The four of us slowly walk down the hallway to Ian's room. This is the first time we will see him since the accident. He's still in his coma, but the nurse said that us talking to him, should help his recovery.

"I don't know if I can do this." Lena admits, as James, Abby and myself stop to look at her.

"Sure you can. It's just us and Ian. Nobody else." I weakly smile.

Lena slowly nods, and James reaches for the door handle, pushing the door open.

We instantly hear the beeping of Ian's monitors, which reminds me just how real all of this is.

I frown as we all walk inside the small room. Lena takes a seat beside Ian's bed, and James takes a seat opposite of her. They both take hold of Ian's hands, as Abby and I stay near the door.

I wish he were only sleeping. I wish he would wake up and crack a joke. I wish I could hear his laugh again.

Suddenly, Lena is shaking her head. "I can't sit here and look at him like this. This isn't real."

I see tears falling from her eyes, so I'm quick to grab a tissue and give it to her.

"I know it's hard, but we need to be here for him." James says, still holding Ian's lifeless hand.

I can't even imagine how heartbroken James is. While we've all known each other since Kindergarten, James and Ian have always had a much stronger bond.

They're brothers.

I think back to how scared I was when my mom was admitted to the hospital. Thinking that I was going to lose her, was the scariest thing that I have ever felt. It was unbearable.

"You missed moms homemade lasagna last night Ian. She made it for me because she knows it's our favorite. I made sure to put some in the freezer for you, so you can eat it when you come back home." We hear James say, and the three of us look over to him with frowns on our faces.

"I even gave some to Rufus, and he loved it as usual. I know you don't like him sleeping in your room, but I let him sleep in there last night because he missed you." James weakly smiles. "I found him this morning curled up underneath your blanket."

I quietly walk over beside James and place my hand against his shoulder. He instantly uses his other hand to reach up and place it over mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"You need to wake up soon though, cause I think Rufus was a little too comfortable last night." James tries to laugh, but I can hear the pain deep in his voice as he watches his lifeless best friend.

"I'm sure he'll wake up soon." I say, placing a kiss on the top of James' head.

I hear Lena still crying in the background as James suddenly stands up. My arm falls from his shoulder and he pushes everyone aside to walk out into the hallway. I ask Lena and Abby to give us a minute, so they both stay in Ian's room.

"James..." I begin, as I see him pacing back and forth down the hallway. When I finally reach him, he collapses onto the floor. My eyes widen as I sit down beside him, and he instantly places his head into my lap.

I wrap my arms around him, as he breaks down in my lap.

"What if he doesn't wake up?" James cries while looking up at me.
