Partie 61/ First contact

The days went by and Mulder only worked in the morning in the office. He went every afternoon with Scully to the hospital to see the baby. Scully was getting better and better. Her scar was healed and she felt almost no pain.

Mulder and Scully were as usual at Maggie's bedside. The pediatrician entered the room.

Dr: Hello everyone. It's a big day for Maggie so we can get her out of her incubator. We have withdrawn her respiratory aid since last night and everything goes very well for her. Dana, if you want to take off your shirt, I'll drop it on you. Skin-to-skin contact is very important in newborns.

The doctor manipulated Maggie, who made the pediatrician understand that she was not happy.

Dr: All is well my beautiful, you'll see mom.

The doctor placed Maggie on Scully's chest. Maggie huddled against her and instantly stopped crying.

Scully could not hold back her tears. She had been waiting for this moment for so long.

Mulder also had a tear when he saw them all. He took a picture and sent it to William. Scully rocked Maggie in the chair and put a little kiss on her head. The doctor came back a little later Maggie was starting to cry.

Dr: I think this little girl is hungry. Does daddy want to give him a bottle?

Mulder felt very uncomfortable and was afraid to break her so fragile and so small.

Dr.: Install yourself comfortably Fox. It's crazy as such a small human being can make feverish dads as big and strong whatever it is. Scully laughed at that as Mulder became confused at what was happening.

The doctor put the baby in Mulder's arms and gave him the bottle. Scully was impressed to see this picture.

Dr.: You're doing very well Fox. Relax, you will not break it, it is much stronger than you think.

Mulder was very focused on what he was doing. Scully was taking pictures of this magical moment.

 The baby did not take any time to finish his bottle.

M: I see you're as greedy as your mom.

S: You have to make him burp.

Scully placed the baby against Mulder's shoulder.

S: you can rub his upper back it will help him.

 Mulder applied to every detail.

Once the rot finished Scully took the baby back and rocked her to sleep. It did not take time.

The doctor took the baby back to his incubator.

Dr: It's a big day for her and for you. You can resume this moment tomorrow. If all goes well we will give him leave at the end of the week.

Mulder and Scully were in the car. They were each in their respective thoughts. This moment out of time filled them with happiness. Mulder had taken leave until the weekend. He was preparing the arrival of the baby.

William: I could go back and live with Walter so that Maggie is his room here.

S: No! Maggie will be sleeping with us for a while. Our room is big enough to add a dresser and a cradle. We will see how to organize afterwards. And then I think I'll spend time at the country house. We will have enough weary space. It will just have to organize more. We stayed here for the proximity to our work but I am on leave for 3 months.

Mulder was gone for the day at the country house. They put up the furniture for the baby's room. Scully was at the hospital with Maggie.

M: Tell me William, do you have news from Debbie?
