JakePOV
I woke up with a stinging pain in the neck. I sent a hand to ruffle my hair and I pulled out a twig or two. As my eyes timidly opened they adjusted to the semi-darkness.
I rolled up from laying down position and sat down on the dusty floor.
"Cupa? Silk? Are you guys there?" I said softly. Nothing but an empty silence came back to me.
My throat was dry and I needed food. I smelled like zombie and I felt like general shit.
No one answered me so they must have left. Just the creaking of an empty house built into a mountain was there to greet me.
The realisation that they left me alone hit me like a turbo-boosted container truck. Rolling over and going back to despair seemes ideal at the time but i needed to make sure I was safe.
I forced myself up to my feet to see if the horde of undead was still in the valley outside.
I grabbed the Silk curtains and pulled them open. Nothing but oak trees and smoking ash. Besides the hundreds of weapons and scorched bodies nothing out of the ordinary.
"Thank God" I sighed.
"No more adventure... I just want to go home" I muttered as I recalled my life outside this game was.
It wasn't a grand future filled with money and thousands of close friends but it was mine. And I wanted it back. I assume the reason for this is because I just attacked the people I called friends in this world.
The girls took everything when they left. All that was there in the house was the crafting table, a few old materials and some day old food.
I rubbed the back of my head.
"They could have at least left some meat" I said out loud beckoning at the chest full of carrots, potatoes and beetroot.
I rigged up a makeshift bagpack with the essentials and retrieved my sword from near the floor. Dried blood was still caked onto it from the day before. I grimaced and rubbed it off on the edge of the door and stepped outside.
Where the mighty army once stood there was now scorched ground and dead, dead bodies of zombies. The main tent was still there (burnt as hell though) and some smaller ones.
I looked up and down the nearby road. Zero sign of where the girls went. I honestly don't know if finding them would be the best of ideas. I shifted my bag into a more comfortable position and headed north towards a line of trees downhill and in the far distance.
Later That Day
The hike through the digital world was rather soothing. Besides the monsters and an occasional hole in the ground daytime was quite safe for relaxing while exploring.
It was more beautiful than I gave it credit for. The fact that all the digital animals were so...real here made it wonderful. Dusk was coming down and I gazed at the orange twilight sky.
"Isn't that something..."
Hoofbeats were coming from down the trail behind me. A group of people where coming down the trail fast.I dived into the line of trees at the side of the trail and hid in a bush.
A dozen or so skeletons and blockey humans on horseback came down, full gallop and went straight past my hiding place and following the road.
As soon as they passed out of sight I rolled out of the bush and followed. The sky was getting increasingly darker. I took out my ipod. It was almost dead so why not. I selected "Nightcore-Courtesy Call" and broke into a jog. Better use my last modern convenience before the battery dies by itself.
