CHAPTER 61

Two weeks have passed and Carder had not come home since the day of our falling out. Gabe has asked a lot of questions but all I could give him were "I don't know." It was painful having to lie to Gabe but it wasn't my place to tell him.

I sighed slamming my locker shut. In a few weeks would be when my matrix dance will be. Of course I wasn't thinking about that at all, all my focus was on Carder who still hadn't returned home. I angrily stormed down the school hallway with my head down, trying not to let myself cry.

I eventually ran into something making me fall back, landing on my backside. "Ouch." I muttered looking up to see who I bumped into to. My eyes widened when i found that the person was none other than Kenneth. "K-Kenneth?" I quickly scrambled to stand but tripped and landed back down to the floor. He awkwardly laughed softly and offered a hand to help me up.

I took his hand after a moments hesitation and stood up. "What are you doing here?" I raised a brow and gripped the strap of my bag tightly. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and looked to the ground. "I go here." Only then did I notice the books in his hands. "Huh? Since when?" My green orbs were as wide as ever.

"Since about a month ago." It wasn't that surprising that I had never noticed him. The whole school was huge and there were a lot of students in my grade. "O-Oh..." I nodded then quickly went to walk passed him. "Well then, enjoy the rest of your day." I stopped when a hand gripped my shoulder. I slowly turned around and faced Kenneth who had a pained smile.

"Your brother told me that you found out what our relationship is." I flinched making him let go of me. I gulped and looked down to the floor in guilt. "Yeah..." he nodded and for a while we stood on silence. Then he broke it, "Your brother is staying with me. I think it be better if you came to fetch him." I looked up at him with wide eyes and shook my head.

"It's better to give him space...he'll come when his ready." I didn't believe a word I was saying however. Kenneth shook his head and held the books tightly to his chest. "It would be better if you came to fetch him. He needs his little sisters support." I gulped but then finally nodded, "Okay."
