I was almost home, that's what I've been chanting in my head the entire walk to my house. I had to keep reminding myself of that fact or else I would of collapsed ages ago.

I could make out the familiar tress in my back yard and I almost cried with relief. I continued to walk with shaking legs and then after what felt like forever I finally saw the sliding door leading into the living room.

I was but a few steps away from the sliding door and then everything went black.

Xavier's point of view

I was hunched over a map of the town when one of my warriors came barging into my office, breathless.

Growling at him I was going to tell him that was no way to enter his Kings office but he said,

' Your-your... Majesty...they-they... found her!'

I was in front of him before he could even blink. Taking ahold of the front of his shirt I demanded,

' Who, spit it out!' It can't be, Oh Moon Goddess have your finally answered my prayers?

' The-the...Queen Luna!' My warrior managed to get out. He was practically shaking.

My heart was racing and suddenly I felt hyper aware.

' Where, where is she?!' I could barely stand still, they found her! Is she okay, is she harmed, is she safe now? I have to go to her immediately!

' At-at her parents house, Your Majesty.' He said hastily. After dismissing  him I mind linked my elite  squad to go to her house and meet me there.

Running to my garage I jumped  into whichever car was closest to me and took off towards her parents house. I couldn't wait a moment longer, I had to have her in my arms again. She's been gone for a little over three months and every second I reminded myself that I had failed to save her, I had failed! I was a disgrace, not worthy of her at all. I swore I'd protect her but I didn't.

My hands were shaking on the steering wheel and I could barely breath. It was as if my mind couldn't comprehend the fact that I was actually on my way to her this moment. It felt surreal.

I just pray she's safe and not harmed. I almost scoffed at that, deep down I knew she wasn't unharmed. Some nights I swore I felt her pain and it was excruciating to think my mate was out there being hurt and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Pulling up to the front of her house I yanked the car door open. Sometimes I wish humans knew about us so I could of just shifted and ran to her house in half the time it took me to get here in my sports car. I sprinted to the front door of her house and not even bothering to knock I opened it (it was surprisingly open) and ran into the foyer.

I saw three members of my elite squad standing guard. They all looked so defeated but why, we found her or rather she found us. So why did they look as if she were dead or something!

' What's going on? Where is my mate!' I shouted. They all looked away from me which made me even angrier. I was about to demand to know when Zane, the leader of the squad stepped towards me, his face grim.

' Your Majesty, the Queen Luna is upstairs in her room  with her parents.' He said standing right in front of the stairs.

' Thank you now move out of my way Zane.' I said, all I wanted to do was run up those stairs and into my mates arms but he was in my way!

' Your Majesty I-I don't think that would be a wise decision right now.' He said not moving an inch.

I could feel my wolf rising to the surface and was sure my eyes were turning blue.

' How dare you tell me what is wise and what is not where MY MATE is concerned! MOVE, NOW!' I demanded and watched as he quickly stepped aside. Before I could see their faces I ran up those stairs and almost took the doors hinges off as I stormed into her bedroom.

I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight in front of me.

There she lay on her stomach and I whimpered at the sight. Ginger was sobbing as she stood over my mate and disinfected Victoria's ruined back.

Chris was kneeling on the floor besides her bed holding her hand which hung of the side of it.

They both turned to look at me with tear stricken faces. I tried to take a step forward but I seemed to be rooted to the floor and for some reason I couldn't move.

There was bruises all over her skin and I noticed her once long hair had been haphazardly cut and it just brushed her shoulders now.

She seems so fragile and my heart broke. It shattered into a million pieces. I did this, I let this happen, I never found her, I didn't keep my promise. That nightmare of when I found her on the forest floor wasn't my subconscious. No, it was a plea for help from my beautiful mate who has been through hell for months while I did nothing.

My wolfs sorrow at the sight of her was overwhelming all we wanted to do was hold her and hug all her broken pieces back together. We wanted to hear her heart beat to reassure ourselves that she was in fact alive.

' Leave,' I croaked out.

At my words Ginger looked back at me and I saw something I never would of thought to find in her eyes, anger and it was directed at me. I couldn't blame her.

' Your Majesty I have to clean her wounds and bandage them.' She said looking directly at me.

I know I was being selfish but I just had to be with Victoria alone for just a moment.

' I will do it Ginger. Please I-I just need t-'

'Come on Gin His Majesty shouldn't have to explain himself, this is his mate.' Chris said walking around to where Ginger was and taking her hand but not before bowing slightly in my presence. As he was leading her out of the room  she kept turning around slightly and looking back  at Victoria, concern plastered on her face.

Chris closed the door softly behind him and that was when I found the strength to walk towards her bed.  I noticed a pile of rags lay discarded on the floor besides a chair next to her bed. I knelt down and picked them up, they reeked and were covered with blood.

A surge of anger filled me and I threw the rags back onto the floor. How dare they hurt her like this, how dare they!

Focus, we have to clean Victoria's wounds! I mentally scolded myself.

Taking a deep breath in I stood beside her and picked up the cloth Ginger was using to disinfect and clean Victoria's wounds.

With shaking hands I gently pressed it down onto a long gash that went from her shoulder down to her waist. I had to take in more deep breaths because I realised she had been whipped multiple times. Some were healed already and fading to a light pink but others were deeper and still slightly raw and bleeding.

Ginger must have changed her out of those rags I found on the floor and into the grey sweats she was currently wearing. I noticed she didn't have a top or bra on for obvious reasons. Ginger had to clean her back wounds and couldn't have anything in the way.

I continued to clean her wounds and only when  I was certain they were free from infection did I grab the bandages on the bedside table.

I gently took a hold of her side and lifted it up so I could get the bandages around her. She didn't even stir and it frightened me.

It took a few minutes but I had successfully bandaged her entire back. There was a bowl  of water next to where the bandages were and I rinsed my hands off in it. After wiping them dry I brought a chair right next to her bed which I noticed was extremely big for one person and sat down on it, the tears flow freely then.
