Chapter 30

It's been weeks and we haven't found anything. It's almost as if Cadmer never existed. I never thought he'd be so hard to track or find.

It's past midnight and I'm lying in bed unable to sleep as Xavier is still downstairs in his office trying desperately to find any sort of lead on Cadmer.

He barely sleeps these days but then again so do I. The only difference is he chooses to not sleep where as I-I am petrified to fall asleep.

Every time I close my eyes I get sucked into my very own hell. Nightmares filled with Cadmers face and his smile burning into my brain.

I'll feel the darkness closing in on me and it feels like I'm drowning, suffocating unable to get out and I'll scream and then it's over because before the second scream can leave me Xavier always manages to get there in time.

He'll hold me and tell me he's there and that I'm safe and I'll fall asleep peacefully this time in his arms and he'll lay with me and fall asleep himself.

It's turned almost into a routine of sorts. I still haven't told Xavier everything that had happened when I was taken but he doesn't ever push me or demand to be told. He simply listens to whatever I manage to tell him and then he'll kiss me or comfort me in what ever way he can.

Ever since I had been returned Xavier is a completely, well not completely different but different to his old self. I can actually talk to him without both of us wanting to kill each other and I actually enjoy his company except when he goes all possessive, demanding Alpha on me. Which is a trait I'm afraid he'll never loose.

The house is silent apart from a creek I can hear coming from downstairs and before I work myself up I realise it's probably just Xavier finishing up in his office.

I listen as his light footsteps pad along the stairs and then down the hallway.

He opens the door to our bedroom and I see his black hair peak from behind the door.

" What are you doing?" I whisper as I sit up in bed.

"Why are you whispering?" He whispers back as he walks into the room. The moonlight highlighting his silly grin on his handsome face.

" I don't know?" I say as I shrug and laugh softly.

He walks towards the bed and sits down on his side. He sighs out loud and takes his shirt off while I stare bashfully at his toned and muscular back.

I crawl towards him and rest my hands on his back.

" What's wrong?"

He turns his head slightly to the left and looks at me. He looks so tired and as if the weight of the world rests on his shoulders.

" Everything."

" Everything?" I say drawing back from him.

" Not you. Never you." He says as he turns fully around to face me, taking my face in his hands.

" I know but tell me. All I want to do is help you make it better."

" Cadmer! We have tried everything, I have spent months looking for him when you were taken and even before that and I just simply am not getting anywhere and it is driving me insane! Every second of every day all I think about is what he did to you and how useless I was to stop him how-how I failed y-"

Before he could get another word out I slammed my lips onto his and kissed him with everything I had. I felt him recover from his slight shock as his mouth began to move with just as much need and ferocity as mine.

His arms wrapped around my waist as he pushed me down onto my back his lips never leaving mine.

He braced his arms to the side of my head just as I pulled away for air. Turning my head to the side I gave him better access to my neck. He didn't waste any time, before I could blink his lips where kissing my neck and I moaned as he began his assault on my mark.

I griped his hair and he grunted his approval. I wanted him to go lower to kiss me everywhere. I have never felt this much need for someone before in my entire life but right now I feel on fire and as if the stars themselves could burst any moment.

Xavier moved his lips back up to mine and started kissing me again this time slower, he was taking his time and I was savouring every moment.

It must have been the worst timing in the world but it came to me so suddenly that I gasped out loud and pushed Xavier off of me.

"Xavier!" I yelled my eyes wide open.

" What?! What is it? Did I do something wrong? I am so sorry! I did not mean to push you or-or do an-" He stammered as he backed away from me as if he thought he just harmed me in some way.

" Come here you idiot!" I said as I pulled on his arms to get him closer, he was almost falling off the bed.

" Victoria I prom-"

" Shoosh! You didn't do anything wrong in fact I wanted you to-to we'll never mind that's not the point th-"

" So what exactly is the point?"

" If you let me finish my sentences I'll tell you what the point is." I said crossing my arms and glaring at him.

" Do proceed," he said giving me a blank look but I didn't miss the slight smirk or the twinkle in his grey eyes.

" It's Adam I th-"

" So you mean to tell me while I was kissing you, you were thinking about him." He said now crossing his arms and glaring at me.

" Are you for real right now? That is ridiculous! Can you just listen and not interrupt me!"

" Fine, I will not interrupt you."

" We may not know a lot about Cadmer right but we well I kn- well I thought I knew Adam. Anyway if we can get ahold of Adam we can use him to give us information about Cadmer and possibly his location as well as other vital information I mean that lying little snake has to be good for something!" Xavier just looked at me his mouth slightly ajar and then he pounced on me.

I let out a slight yelp as he landed on me.

" That is genius! My Queen!"

My Queen, I like the sound of that.
