———————It had been a couple of weeks since The Quarrymen gained and lost members.
It's been difficult for the original members to adjust to the change. But it'd been good for them, John had finally stopped playing banjo chords on his guitar, much to Paul's envy as it was all thanks to George.
Finn had stopped spending as much time with the Quarrymen, John was always a dick to her whilst she was with them, probably thanks to his toxic masculinity. She only ever really spent time with him separately.
This was one of those times. The two of them were in Johns room together, just hanging around.
John was lead on his bed and Finn was stood at his desk painting with the paints he gave her. She keeps them at his house for she knows of her parents found the gifts they'd get the wrong idea.
"George wants you to come to his birthday doo." John said looking at the ceiling.
"Oh yeah?" Finn said not really paying attention, "and when's that?"
"About," John looked at his watch, "three hours."
Finns head flew up, eyes wide. "Y'what?" She exclaimed.
John looked over to the girl, smirking "three hou-"
"I heard what you said." She put the back of her hand to her forehead in astonishment of her unpreparedness, "what the fuck am I gonna get him?"
"You don't need to get him owt, I ain't." John told the worrying girl.
She rolled her eyes, "shut up, you"
John stood up, he went over to the girl and hugged her from behind, it wasn't a romantic gesture, Finn and John had a platonic relationship, that was all. It was comforting for the younger girl.
"It's a nice painting." John told the girl looking at what she painted.
It was a drawing of a goldfish, whenever Finns parents used to take her to Blackpool, she was never interested in the circus animals, she thought it was quite cruel honestly, but she did take a fancy in her cousin who lived there's goldfish. Sure it was nice but nothing special.
"You're a genius John!" She told the boy, having an idea.
John simply smirked at this, "don't need to tell me twice."
Finn lightly slapped him on the arm, "I'm gonna leave this to dry and pray to god you don't do something to it."
John held his hands up in defence.
"On second thought...."
"Don't worry about it, Finn." He ruffles his hand in her shoulder-length brown hair, messing it up in the process.
She threw herself onto his bed.
"Why does he want me to come?" She wondered.
This was Finns over active imagination taking control. She was a hopeless romantic and nothing could change that, she'd get a crush on every boy that so much as opened a door for her.
John shrugged at her question, "probs' just don't want you to feel left out."
That calmed her imagination in ways, in others it just made her feel like a tag along.
"Where's this happening then?" Finn places her forearm across her forehead.
"His mams" John said focused on whatever he was doing.
Finn sat up straight at the mention of his mother, "his mum?" She questioned as though she misheard him.
"Yeah." He was reading a book of sorts.
