Dinner, then what?

It was almost dinner time so I changed out of my training clothes that had been made for me by Loki and I got in my formal, royal robes. I wasn't allowed to wear my training clothes at the table. Mother (Frigga) said it was improper for a princess. I always rolled my eyes at this saying. I finally knew my way around the palace though. I never knew such a place could have so many rooms. I have not even been in all of them.
As I make my way to the large dining room, I pass many servants in the halls and nodded at them politely. I've made lots of friends with the servants. I don’t even picture them as servants. They were so friendly and were always nice to me. I twisted and turned down the large, long hallways until eventually I reached the golden dining room.

At the top of the table was Odin and to the left of him was Frigga. She was wearing her usual mustard-yellow dress with her long hair braided at her side. Of course, Odin had his staff leaning up against his golden chair. He didn’t go anywhere without the thing; it was like the bond Thor had with his hammer. I just didn’t get it. I had a pretty close connection with the knives Loki got me when I first started training but I didn’t carry them around with me to the dinner table.

Next to Mother was an empty chair being my seat. Opposite Mother was Thor and Loki who were both buttering bread ready to dip in their vegetable soup. Thor was wearing his armour and Loki was wearing his usual green and black clothes with his long, green cape. Father did not look happy to see me walk in late...Again.

"Hazel, you're late...Again. How many times do we have to tell you not to be late for dinner!" He moaned in an annoyed voice. I walked forward towards my seat slowly. "I'm sorry Father, I lost track of time." I sat down next to mother and looked at the soup and bread in front of me. I grabbed a role and ripped in half. “Hazel, please have more manners at the dinner table, you are a princess. I know you need to train with Loki but you could, at the very least, not be late for our family meals. This is usually the only time of the day where we get to sit down and talk to each other without any interruptions.” said Odin in his usual deep voice. I looked down at the table and dipped my bread in the soup. Today it was vegetable soup, but it was cold because I was late. I got used to it though. It was actually quite nice.

After we all had finished the soup, the servants brought out the main course. Lamb with some vegetables and mash potato with a cup of gravy to cover my dinner with. They bought out a jar of mint sauce and placed it in front of me next to a delicately designed teaspoon. Ii covered my dinner with gravy and mint sauce and started to eat the succulent lamb.

When we all finished our dinner, we got up and left the table, thanking each other and the servants for the meal. I exited the dining room, walking swiftly down the long, golden hallways. I looked back over my shoulder and saw my brothers Thor and Loki following after me. I sighed and slowed down to let them catch up. Loki came to the left of me and Thor came to the right. “Are you okay?” asked Thor with concern on his face. “I’m fine, I just need to train,” I said. I continued to walk at a quick pace down the hall. “Hazel. Hazel, just stop!” shouted Loki. He grabbed my arm. What happened next, I have no words to explain how scared I was. When Loki grabbed my arm, a million shards of ice exploded from my arm. Loki and Thor were sent flying backwards down the hallway I one direction, and I was sent flying in the opposite direction.
