chapter 25

Luna

Leon, Liluo and I were walking to school together when my name was called. I recognized the voice and I didn't really want to turn around. I made eye contact with Liluo who looked away tell me to decide what to do. I sighed thinking of what she had said a while ago. I took a deep breath and turned around with a smile. "Good morning Sir Volden." I greeted him respectfully. "Good morning to you all, Luna you look beautiful as always. How can one resist you?" Sir Volden says bowing to me? "Thank you, sir, Volden, you look well," I said not really knowing how else to respond to that. "Thank you, I wanted to ask you something." He says. "Um please don't take this the wrong way, but can you ask quickly I don't want us all to be late for school," I said. "It won't, I just wanted to ask you to join me for an outing. There is a festival coming up three days from tonight. You can even bring your child, there will be many things there." He says with a hopeful voice. I thought for a moment before I answered. "Thank you, sir Volden for your invitation. We gladly accept if you don't mind me bringing Lucas and Liluo as well." I said hoping it would do one or two things. One he would say no about all 4 of us or he would agree and I would have excuses to not be alone with him. "Yes, they are more than welcome to join us." He says with a smile I can tell is a bit forced. "Well, then I will talk to you soon." I bid farewell before we left. "Mother do you want to go?" Leon asked and I just smiled at him. "Why? Can I not?" I joked at him but he shook his head. We got to school and went on with our normal day as always.

Youngbae

It was dark but lit by candles. Many people surrounded me but passed in a blur. People dancing, singing, children running around till a small boy is suddenly on the ground before me with fear in his eyes. Did I frighten him? Suddenly he was gone but I turned around and saw a feminine figure standing alone. Where am I, what's going on? Suddenly I hear my name. "Youngbae...Youngbae... Youngbae wake up." I opened my eyes to see my mother sitting on my side. I felt an odd sweat on my face even if my dream was not a nightmare. "What happened?" I asked sitting up. "You seemed restless in your sleep and I was worried." She says stroking my cheek gently. "I'm fine, I'm sorry to worry you," I said moving her hand softly before I stood up and stretched my body. "How long have I been asleep?" I asked seeing it is now dark outside. "A few hours." She says simply looking out the porthole as well. "Did I miss anything?" I asked walking closer to the window. "Nothing of importance. We will be docking soon in Krah." She informs me. "When?" I asked feeling a sudden anxiousness. "Tomorrow morning maybe early noon." She says getting up."come on let's get you something to eat, you have not eaten much." She says I complied easily because I know if I said no she would not hesitate to force me to eat.

I ate then took some time to myself. I sat in one place thinking of my life, maybe if I were not the emperor. I could have lived a normal and satisfying life with Luna, but things seem to never be that simple. A few days passed and we have arrived at our destination. It was morning when we made our way to the palace.

Luna

Liluo woke me up early making me about what I intend to wear tonight. I do not understand this, I have the whole day to get ready and you want to know so early. "Luna come on we have to get you ready." She says overly excited about this evening's plans. "Liluo we have hours just let me sleep more," I whined but she said no and tried to force me out of bed but I didn't move. Finally, I got tired of fighting her and got out of bed. She gave me some time to do other things before she demanded I got ready for tonight. I dressed really simply because I didn't want to seem overly excited. I'm not overly excited but I still have to look presentable. Sir Volden arrived at my home dressed similarly to Lucas.
