Hi, my name is Cherry. Like the fruit.

When my mom was pregnant with me, she really craved some cherries so that's how I got my name.

We live in LA. I know, LA the city of angels. Yeah right, this city is the worst for people like me. I don't like too many people, or crowds. I'll be happy if you give me a bed, a laptop and a decent internet speed. So that's why my mom and I are moving. I don't want to because I only have one year left of high school but my mom insisted on moving, so we can live 'better'.

"Honey, faster please, the moving van is waiting" my mom yells from downstairs.

I'm getting the last stuff from my room. "I'm coming mom"

My phone rings while going down. I hurry to the van and answer my phone.

"Yellow?"

"Where are you, Cher?" says my only best friend in the whole world, Melanie.

"I'm already in the van, I'm sorry, I'll come visit soon. My grandparents live here anyway"

Grandma and grandpa are living in a cull de sac, and Melanie lives there too only a couple of houses further.

"Well, okay then. I was already on my way to your house but not anymore. Oh well I'll just go to Matt's house"

Mat or Matthew is Melanie's college boyfriend. He is 20 years old while we are 18. He also lives here.

My birthday was yesterday. Yay 18, the number of adulthood.

Yeah right. It's nothing special about being an adult. I feel the same way I felt when I was seventeen. When I was young I always thought that older people got it all figured out but as I grew older I found out that nobody knows what they are doing with their lives. I don't even know how to do laundry by myself.

A couple of weeks ago, I tried to do that and I set fire to the washing machine, I don't even know how. Well, never doing that again.

"Okay, see you soon!"

"Call me when you get there"

"Alright, alright"

Our van arrived at the destination. It's not the biggest house I've been in but it is decent. It has two floors, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, you know, the usual. Downstairs it's an open living room-kitchen concept with a bathroom and upstairs are the bedrooms and another bathroom.

I go upstairs to check out the rooms. The one on the left caught my eye because it has a balcony. I can go out at night and watch the stars there. I couldn't do it in LA because it is so polluted there I couldn't even see them because the sky has an orange or a reddish color at night, plus I didn't have a balcony.

"Mom! This will be my room, alright?"

"Okay honey, I'm fine with that only if you lock the balcony at night" my mom says walking into the room spotting the balcony.

"Of course, I wouldn't want some thief to come into my room and steal stuff, right? I mean it's not like this house doesn't have an alarm now, does it?" I say sarcastically.

"Shush and unpack your stuff Cherry" she says jokingly. I smile at her and continue with the unpacking.

Suddenly I got an idea. I've always wanted a dog, but we couldn't get one because we lived in a building. Until now.

"Mom, can I ask you something?" I ask with pleading eyes.

"What is it now?" my mom sighs.

"Can we get an itsy, bitsy, cute, little dog?" I start hugging her. "Pleaseeeeeeeeeee."
