I'm awaken by the sound of my alarm going off on the first day of school. I start hitting my phone with my palm until it turns off and I go back to my slumber.

After a couple of minutes mom comes into my room.

"Cher, wake up, you have to go to school. You can't miss the first day of your new school" she says.

"Okay, okay, I'm up" I grumble underneath the pillows.

"I made you breakfast, come on" mom pulls the sheets off my bed.

"I'm upppp" I say slouching next to the bed, hugging the sheets and the pillows.

I hate waking up before 9 am.

I finish washing up and go downstairs to eat my breakfast.

"Mel? What are you doing here so early?" I ask furrowing my eyebrows "And why are you even here?" I add pouring myself an orange juice.

"I'm going to your school too" she says "...surprise" she adds doing the jazz hands.

"Wait, what? How, why, when?" I start blurting questions "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I wanted to surprise you. And I moved in with my grandma. I finally persuaded my parents in to letting me live with her. I think I got the points for you being my only friend and moving to a different school" she noted.

"Oh my god that's wonderful, you've always wanted to live in this area" I gush hugging her.

"Yeah, now my wish came true even though it's going to be a pain in the ass living with her" she chuckles.

"What about Matt?" I ask biting into the sandwich my mom prepared.

"What about him? He can visit me any time he wants. He has a car" she says.

"True" I say munching away.

"Now hurry up. We'll be late" Mel says dragging me out while I still eat my sandwich.

"Chill, I'll choke" I mumble with full mouth.

"Well, this is a lot of different school than the one we used to go" Mel says stepping into the hallway and looking around.

"It definitely is" I say looking around.

"Should we go to the information desk over there?" Mel asks pointing to a desk on the right.

"Yeah we should get our schedules" I agree.

There are blue lockers and classrooms on the either side of the hallway. Left from the end of the hallway is the teacher's lounge with the principal office and on the left there are more classrooms and a gym. The cafeteria is in another building outside of the school. The information desk is at the beginning of the hallway so we head there.

"Hello" I say to the lady sitting behind the desk.

"Yes dear?" she asks putting her glasses so she can see me better.

"We are the new students who transferred here from LA" I respond and Mel just nods.

"Oh yes, let me just get your schedules" says the lady as she starts rummaging through the papers on the table.

"Here they are" she says as she hands us the papers.

"Thank you" I and Mel say both politely.

"You're welcome" the lady smiles kindly.

"Also, I assigned students with a same schedule as yours to help you to get to know your surroundings here and the classrooms. They're waiting outside. If you need any help, just ask them" she adds and points to the entrance.

"Oh my god aren't they Lion and Mason?" Mel asks.

"What?" I say turning to the entrance.

"Oh good, you know them. I'm sure you accommodate well in this school with them. They're the best students after all" the lady says.

Please, please, pleaaaaaaaaase let Mason be the one with my schedule, I can't be around Lion without stuttering and acting like an idiot, plus I'm still mad at him for not telling me about his girlfriend.

'What do you expect from him? You barely even know him' my consciousness says.

'You're right' I agree and calm down a little bit.

"Cherry, Melanie" we hear Lion and Mason calling our names.

"Hey guys" Mel says greeting them.

"Hey dudes... fellas... bros" I say punching Lion in the shoulder.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME

"Hey" Lion chuckles.

"We have the same schedule" Mel says to Mason.

Oh great, the one thing I didn't want. Amazing.

"Awesome. That means you two have the same then" Mason points out.

"Yep. Great" I say sounding too disappointed. Shit. I didn't mean to come out as a sarcasm.

Lion drops his smile at my words but regains it after a couple of seconds like nothing happened.

"Okay then, let's move" Mel says breaking the awkwardness.

We explore the classrooms before our classes start and you can still sense the awkwardness between me and Lion. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way because all of them are relaxed.

As we end the tour of the school all of us go to our classes.

I thought that Mason and Lion are the popular ones here because of their looks, but by the reactions of the other students here, they're not as popular as I thought they are. Everybody is ignoring us even though I'm the new girl here.

"Hey I'm sorry if I offended you in any way earlier." I apologize.

"It's okay. You didn't mean to" Lion says with a smile. "Let's get to our classroom now" he adds leading the way.

"Okay" I say smiling.

Well, they'll be helping us for two weeks to accommodate here. It'll be two tough weeks for me.

We go to chemistry and I see that the only two free seats are the ones in front of the teacher. Lion sits in one of them and I stand in place.

"Come on, I don't bite" he says jokingly as he pats the chair next to him.

"Shut up. I was just stretching my legs" I say as I start stretching.

"Sure you were" he chuckles.

"Everybody, sit." someone yells from the door, startling me.

Everybody rushes to their desks and I'm forced to sit next to him.

"We have a new student joining us." She says.

"I'm Miss Davis. Please get up and introduce yourself." She turns to me.

I hate introducing myself. I don't like all of the attention on me. I'd rather go bungee jumping then doing this.

As I get up from my desk I trip on one of the legs from it and fall. Great, I just face planted the floor in front of my new class. What and amazing start to this school year.
