"Hey Cherry, wait up!" as I walk up the stairs of the school someone shouts.
I turn around and spot Lion jogging towards me.
"Hey" I say.
"About the chemistry project. I was thinking we can work on it after school today if you're free." He says adjusting the strap of his backpack.
"I can't today, I agreed to meet with Mel but we can do it tomorrow if you're free" I suggest.
"Yeah, sure. I'm free all week. I'll wait for you in front of the school and we can go to my house. My mom isn't home." He grins.
"Okay, yeah. We can do that" I say smiling.
As I walk out of school my phone starts ringing.
"Hey Mel" I answer.
"Hey, where are you" she asks.
"I'm in front of the school, where the parking lot is" I say as I look around.
"Okay stay right there, I'm coming" she says as she hangs up.

"So, where are we going?" Mel asks.
"I don't know, we'll walk around talking I guess. I'm not in the mood to go out somewhere where there are a lot of people around" I say leading the way.
As we sit on some bench in the park near the school Mel drops a bomb on me:
"Mat and I broke up" she says quickly looking at my direction to see my reaction.
After a couple of seconds of registering what she said I turn to her and shout:
"YOU DID WHAT? WHEN? WHY? HOW?"
"Yesterday. I realized I didn't feel anything for him anymore. I've been feeling like this for a while now. I just see him as a friend. I know I should be feeling guilty for doing this to him even though he didn't do anything wrong... but we agreed to stay friends." she answers my questions.
"Are you okay?" I ask worriedly. She has a strong character but still, a breakup is a breakup. It can break a person.
"I'm fine. I'm the one who broke up with him after all. You should ask him that. He seemed kinda down. I mean, it's natural to feel that way after a brake up, I just don't. Maybe it's because I've been thinking of doing this for a while."
"Why didn't you tell me? I could've helped"
"I just thought it would be better if I did it myself."
"Okay, now that we determined that you're fine, is there anything else going on in your life?"
"Well I think that the reason I broke up with him is because I started liking another guy?" she says it as a question, innocently.
"Mel, you have to stop dropping all of these bombs all of a sudden. I need to boil everything you say. Who? When? And how?"
"It's not determined yet but I think it's Mason. We kinda got close after having the same classes and... I don't know. I guess I started liking him because I'm always around him. Plus he treats me really nice."
"I knew it!" I exclaim.
"I know. You know about everything that's going around you" Mel says chuckling.
"I'm happy as long as you're happy I just really hope you made the right decision" I say hugging her.
"Don't worry. I'm okay" Mel says as I pat her back.
