PROLOGUE...
In Goryeo era,hundreds years ago.The crown prince,Kim Junmyeon was forced married to a high princess Kim Taeyeon in order to strengthen his position.Jumyeon never love Taeyeon.He married her just to be crowned as the king. Meanwhile,Taeyeon had one-sided love on him.
When both of them legally became king and queen,they endowed a prince who soon will become the crown prince and will take over his position,Kim Chul-soo.But at the same time,Jumyeon fall in love with the palace maid,Bae Joohyun.Joohyun was a kind and nice girl.But,also naive at the same time.She doesn't want to hurt Queen Taeyeon's feeling.So,she tried to avoid getting near the king.But,Jumyeon kept confessing to her.
Little that she know,Jumyeon had liked her since they were kids.After knowing that Joohyun also like him.They secretly having an affair as Jumyeon convinced that it'll be okay and promised to keep it secret.Soon after that,they had a baby girl named Kim Ji-yoo.Joohyun felt wrong about it.She had no choice but to keep her mouth shut to make sure her daughter save.
Unfortunately,as Queen Taeyeon found out about the secret affair,she became mad and felt cheated.She forced Jumyeon to dumb them and threatened him that he might lose Joohyun and his daughter if he didn't obey.Junmyeon had no choice but to follow her ordered.He repel Joohyun and Ji-yoo out of palace to keep them safe.He continued to focus on the politics.
But Taeyeon was still unsatisfied.She scared of loosing the powers she had as a queen.She commanded the royal guard to burn Bae Joohyun's place and kill her daughter without King Jumyeon's knowing.
When she had confirmed that her child died,she manage to convince King Jumyeon to prison Bae Joohyun into the dungeon.He had no idea that Taeyeon was behind all this and blamed Joohyun on their daughter's dead.
