Morning Invite

There’s another thud at my window.

I don’t remember going to bed last night. I remember Zayn complimenting my boots, eating dessert, Zayn kind of smiling at me almost the entire time we were eating dessert, Zayn’s mom apologizing over and over again after her son left, sending Mrs. Malik home with a basket of homemade cookies. That’s it really.

I walk over to my window and just barely open the curtains.

In Texas when this happened normally it was some insane bird running into the window repeatedly.

It actually happened more than you would expect.

Now it was not a bird, it was Zayn.

He was in a plain white t-shirt and beige skinny jeans.

I open the window just as he throws another rock. I dodge the rock and it hits the ground making a cracking sound.

“Are you trying to break my window now?” I say sarcastically.

“No, I’m trying to wake you up.” He says.

“Why?” I ask tiredly.

“Because I wanted to show you around town.” He says dropping the remaining rocks onto the ground.

“You,” I say smiling slightly. “Wanted to show me around town?”

“Yeah, you’re new. Might as well know at least some of the town if you’re gonna live here.”

I smile at him and close the window. I go to Taylor’s room and wake her up.

“Whaaat?” she whines hitting me with a fluffy pillow.

“Zayn wants to show me around town.” Well that woke her up.

She sits up and stares at me. Then she smiles.

“Where are you guys going?” she asks.

I grab her arm and drag her out of her bed.

“Around town. And you’re coming with us.”

She looks surprised.

“Uh, ok.” She says and walks over to her closet. “Just let me change real quick.”

I leave her room and walk back to my window, opening it.

Zayn was still there. Good.

He looks up when I open the window.

“Sure, I’ll go.” I say smiling a little.

He smiles. It was a big, pretty smile.

“Ok.” He says.

I was about to close the window when I look back out of them.

“And just so you know, there are other ways to get my attention.” I say, mimicking his smirk.

He just shakes his head and smiles bigger.

I close the window.

*******

I put on a three quarter length sleeve top. Then I put on a pair of jeans and pull a pair of converse on. After, I pull my hair into a pony tail, not caring if it looked neat.

Taylor shows up at my door.

“Ready?” she asks.

“Yeah.” I say walking over to the window, dragging Taylor with me.

I open the window back and push Taylor back a tad.

“Hey Zayn,” I say. He looks up. “I’ll come on one condition.”

He frowns. “What?” he asks.

I pull Taylor forward to where Zayn could see her. “Taylor comes with us.”

A tiny smile comes to his face, as if he were relived. “Sure.” He says with a tiny smile across his face.
