Anne sat at her desk next to a window waiting for her teacher to come, kids chatting excitedly to each other about their weekends.
tapping her fingers against the wooden desk humming quietly to herself.
Why was that Blythe boy even talking to me? She questioned. He was probably trying to annoy me for fun. He's so mean.
Why am I even thinking about him? The click of the door closing caught her attention, she looked over and to her dismay in the doorway stood the wretched boy himself. Anne rolled her eyes and looked away, faintly aware of him sitting in the desk behind her. Not too long after, a young woman walked in,wearing long pants and a long sleeve Bright yellow top with little roses embroidered on to the sleeves.
"Ok" class she said clapping her hands, getting the classes attention. she moved over to her desk at the front of the class and look around at all the faced that were turned her way, her gaze landed on Anne. "It seemed we have a new girl here..." she said still looking right at her. "My name is Miss Stacy and I'll be your English teacher for this year."
Her hair was light brown and it hung loosely around her shoulder,
The classes eyes followed her gaze and were soon all looking at Anne. Her face began to turn red.
"Ok well please make her feel very welcome." She said now looking at everyone in the room. "At the end of the term we are going to be doing a play so first I'll need some ideas, if you want feel free to write a play that you want to submit for our play but no promises on it being used it has to be stunning, it has to take my breath away so please get your creativeness flowing or we'll be stuck doing one from last year." All eyes were on her now, except one. Anne could feel someone's gaze burning into her neck. i will not look. She thought to herself not entirely believing it.
Suddenly something light was flicked at the back of her head, making her flinch. Ignore it. There it was again. She wasn't even paying attention to what Miss Stacy was saying, it was taking all of the child's strength not to turn around and slap whoever was throwing things at her.
She glanced down to see a small pencil rolling along the ground beside her desk, stopping beside her, a boy was leaning down next to her reaching for the pencil. That Blythe boy. "Oops" he whispered glancing up at Anne.
She looked forward pressing her lips together she tried to focus on what out teacher was saying but had no such luck. "Hey" Anne heard him whisper to her from the ground. "Hey." He whispered again a little louder than before. Suddenly he yanked one of her braids and whisper shouted "Carrots" at her. That was it.
She stood up quickly, he did to, without thinking she grabbed her text book and swung it at him, smacking him in the face.
" IM NOT TALKING TO YOU!" She yelled.
The whole class was silent, their eyes resting on Anne, the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
"You just did" he said quietly a small smile spreading across his lips as he reached up his hand to touch the side of his face that was slightly red from the impact of Anne's book.
"Anne Shirley!" Miss Stacy said "why did you just hit Gilbert, In the face, With your Text Book?"
"I.." She stammered, blushing.
"It was my fault, I.. I teased her" Gilbert spoke up coming to her defense. Again.
Miss Stacy sighed, "you two please go to the principals Office and explain to him what just happened."
Anne put down the book she had just his Gilbert with and turned and began walking to the door, her face still red, Gilbert following her, she could feel the whole classes eyes still on them as she opened the door and walked into the corridor.

"Right" the principal said, laying his hands flat on his desk. "I think a weeks detention is a fitting punishment"
Anne's shoulders sagged. "A week?" She gasped
"Yes" he said " after school everyday for a week."
Out of the corner of her eye she could see Gilbert nodding beside her. Of course he had to be the good boy who excepted everything. She thought angrily.
"You may go" he said "um... Anne a word, please?"
Anne sighed and turned back to the principle as Gilbert left the room.
"How are you fitting in?" He asked, Anne could see the concern in his eyes.
"Fine" she mumble starring at the ground.
"You and Diana still friends?"
With the mention of her best friend, her head snapped up "yeah we are still friends later on she is going to introduce me to her other friends."
"Well I'm glad, she is a good girl... you can go now."
Anne nodded and left the room.
"Anne" Gilbert said jumping up from a chair outside the principal's office.
"Shut it Blythe."Anne said coldly "i don't want to talk to you."
"But Anne"- he was cut off the with the lunch bell.
Kids started filing out into the corridors eager to get their food. Quickly Anne spun on her heels and went off in search of her best friend Diana.
"DIANA!" Anne yelled, at the girl with raven black hair.
"Anne!?" What is it is everything ok?" She asked, knowing something was wrong, her words tinted with worry.
"I'll tell you when we are sitting down."Anne said biting her lip.
Diana led her over to a table that four girls sat at, smiling over at them
Once they had approached the table Diana spoke "Girls, This is Anne"
"Hi Anne!" One girl said "hey" said another
"this is Ruby" Diana said pointing to a small girl who had mouse brown hair that hung loosely around her shoulders,
"Hi Anne" she said quietly smiling at her.
Anne gave her a small wave
"And this is Jane" Diana continued waving over to a girl with caramel colored hair that had been pulled into a pony tail. She smiled at Anne her eyes warm and kind.
"This is Tillie" Diana Pointed to a tall-ish girl with a round face, and tanned skin, she was smiling at Anne too.
"And this is Josie" Diana said staring at a girl who had blond hair that was lying loosely over one shoulder. Josie looked Anne up and down clearly not looking very impressed with what she saw, Don't worry, Anne thought I wouldn't be impressed either
"Anne is new here you see girls so please make her feel very welcome" Diana said, Just like Miss Stacy had an hour ago.
"Wait if your new then you must be the girl who Hit Gilbert in the face with a book" Ruby said peering at Anne suspiciously.
"Uh.. yeah" Anne said feeling her cheeks beginning to flush, "i am Not a Blythe fan."
They all stared at her wide eyed as she told them the story of how he had called her carrots.
After lunch all the girls were getting up to leave when someone was grabbing Anne's wrist,
Anne spun around to face Josie, "Josie..." Anne said confused.
"Just so you know, Anne" Josie said her voice full of menace "I know what game your playing, your lies don't fool me,
and no matter how much you Say you 'hate' Gilbert i know its all fake, Ruby has had a crush on him for Three Years. she has dibs. An if you do anything to Hurt her... you'll regret it Ok?"
Anne nodded, not knowing what else to do,
"You can't talk to him" Josie continued "you can't even Look at him"
Anne nodded again and turned to leave, her heart beating out of her chest.
