"I cant believe its Friday already" Diana said to Anne as they walked to school, their feet crunching on the thin layer of snow.
"I know right!" Anne said excitedly "its amazing that in two days, not counting today, We will be on the bus going onto the school trip"
"Yeah" Diana said linking arms with Anne.
"Hey ladies" came a familer voice from behind them.
"Gilbert" Anne said stiffly without turning around,
"Good morning Gilbert" Diana said politely,
They walked in silence for a little while before Anne spoke up, "well... this feels kinda awkward"
"It does doesn't it.."Gilbert said
Diana glanced between Gilbert and Anne, "it that the first thing you guys have every agreed on?" She asked with amusement in her eyes.
"what? No we've agreed on other things..." Gilbert said, Falling into step beside Anne.
"like...?" Diana said raising an eyebrow.
"like... um... when the.. the thing.. we .." Gilbert stammered racking his brain.
Diana laughed at the uncomfortable boy.
*Time skip, at school now*
"ok class," said Miss Stacy said, "it's quite obvious that you aren't Going to get anything done on your stories or plays and since there is only ten minutes left of class you can all just do some quite things.
the classroom was filled with mutters of excitement. Anne reached into her bag and got out the book she was reading, Jane Eyre. she opened her book and tried to read but she couldn't focus because there was a pair of familer hazel brown eyes burning into the back of her head.
Anne turned around to face Gilbert, who was sitting behind her a small smile on his lips, "What?" she hissed,
"nothing.." Gilbert said.
"so stop staring at me!" she said with a frown
Gilbert smiled, "it's just you hair so pretty" he confessed, Anne rolled her eyes and turned back to her book, trying to hide the blush that was creeping onto her face.
"did i just make the famous Anne Shirley Blush?" he added with a smug look on his face mixed with something else Anne couldn't pin down.
"No you didn't Blythe, It just comes with the hair" Anne retorted instantly regretting it.
Gilbert chuckled.
Anne headed to the cafeteria, thinking to herself.
"Oh look her comes the stray dog!" Someone called from behind her, Anne whipped her head around to see Billy, and some of his other gang leaning against a wall laughing.
"Shut up Billy" Anne said bluntly.
"It Talks!" A boy with black spiky hair said with a gleam in his eye.
Anne rolled her eyes and walked away, covering the hurt in her eyes.
"Ok so i was thinking" Jane said to the girls at their lunch table "so you know how we get to pick the rooms we get to be in for the trip" the other girls nodded, "well... since we can't all be in the same room we should try and get rooms next to each others so we can sneak into each others rooms and hangout!" She finished excited with her plan.
"Ok!" Tillie Exclaimed,
The other girls all agreed and started chatting about random things. "Honestly anne, Don't listen to Billy he's just a stupid bully." Diana said, Ruby nodded.
"I know, i jut don't understand why he has to be bean to me" Anne complained.
"Who's being mean to you?" Gilbert said as he walked passed.
"Gilbert has anyone ever told you that you eavesdrop way too much?" Anne replied without missing a beat.
"Im pretty sure you did... Carrots"
Anne stood up angrily. "Do i need to get my book again?!" She said stepping closer to the brown haired boy.
They were now face to face, Center meters apart. "i mean.. i wouldn't mind but I wouldn't want to get you in trouble... Again so ill just leave you"
"GOOD!" Anne yelled as he walked away. She sat down, glaring at the table, ignoring the girls that were staring at her in shock, except for ruby who was struggling not to cry.
Anne looked up, "Ruby? Whats wrong!?" She said worriedly glancing at Josie who had her arm protectively around her shoulders.
"N..nothing" the small girl said straining her back and taking a deep breath.
"Okaayy" Anne said doubtfully.
"Do you think we get to choose who we sit with on the plain?" Diana said, changing the subject
"Oh i hope so Diana!" Anne said before anyone else could get a word in, "it will be so splendid going on the plain for the first time but it wont be nearly as fun without you to keep my company"
Diana smiled.
"Oh! I almost forgot... Moody is having a party this Saturday at his hose and we should all go." Josie said.
"What time is it, I promised I'd help Jerry with some spelling before dinner..." Anne said quietly
"Oh, yeah its like a lunch party thing so it wont be as fun as the party's I host but oh well" Josie replied highly.
"Ok..." Anne said "I'll probably be there then"
"Me too" said Tillie happily.
"Same" Jane and ruby said,
All the girls turned to look at Diana, "obviously I'll be there" she said.
