Picture of Flora above.
She was a facing a wall, a giant wall made of stubborness named Mikhail. It had been a week since she had started working with him. She hadn't learnt anything in particular as he'd refused to talk.
Flora and Ivan were getting more worried each day.As she took a sip of her coffee in a cozy little cafe, she thought about the little things she knew about her patient. Before his accident, he was very active- he even had a personal training room next to his room. Now he was almost catatonic.
What could possibly bring someone with such strength to this state? He didn't lose all of his fire, of that she was certain. She'd seen how his eyes lit up when he was angry.
She needed to make him more open and eventually this would make him more responsive to treatment. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that when she stood up, she didn't see the tall man in front of her. All of her coffee was sprawled on his previously immaculate white shirt.
"Oh my God! I am so sorry, sir", she said mortified while looking at the huge strain.
Don't worry. It's nothing."
It was one of the deepest voice that she had ever heard. She looked up to match a face to the voice and wasn't the least surprised. This man was absolutely gorgeous. His olive skin contrasted with the white shirt he was wearing while piercing blue eyes looked at her. She sucked in a breath; this man looked like someone straight out of the cover of a magazine.
He smiled sweetly, showing perfectly white pearly teeth. He was stunning and he knew it. His aura oozed of confidence.Sofia shook herself out of her daydream and said, "No please. I'll pay the dry-cleaner's bill."
"It was an accident and it's just a shirt. Don't worry about it."
The woman bit her lip, clearly embarrassed.
"But if you want to repay me, then you can keep me company and eat a muffin here with me. I don't feel like eating alone."She eyed him for several seconds and finally nodded. Another mug of coffee wouldn't kill her.
As they sat down, he extended a hand towards her. She shook it; a shiver went down her spine at the contact. We often said that we could judge the character of someone by the firmness of his handshake and this man was, by no mean, weak."I am Gregorio. So who is the woman who have stained my shirt?" he said teasingly.
His blue eyes twinkled with mischief and Sofia felt womb clench. She mentally slapped herself; she had gone too long without sex and now she was a crazy sex-deprived woman.
" Sofia... I'm really sorry for your shirt. Please allow me to repay you."
"You are... By eating with me, you just saved me from a boring meeting with three old men. I would rather sit hear with your beautiful self."She smiled, feeling flattered. It had been a long time since she had last had a man who was flirting with her. It felt really good. After what happened with her husband, well ex-husband, she couldn't help feeling insecure. No matter who much she tried using her psychological knowledge, she still felt betrayed and hurt.
"Do you make it a habit? Inviting everyone who spill their coffee on you to eat?"
"Nah. Actually you are the first to ever spill something on me. I think it's destiny."She was charmed by the boyish grin he gave her. They ordered something to eat and started talking about everything and nothing. However, something felt strange. She kept having warning signs in her mind but she ignored them; she wouldn't let her paranoia ruin this moment. After one hour, they parted ways but not before having exchanged their numbers.
Her phone buzzed and she answered; it was Flora."Please Sofie, can you come? Mikhail is out of control. He won't calm down and he didn't take his medicines", she said, panicking.
"It's okay, sweetie. I'm coming. Just breathe and take care of you and your baby. See if Ivan can tie him while I'm coming."
Cursing, she ran to her car and sped to Flora's. The guards were now accustomed to seeing her but they still did the same check every time. She found Flora outside of Mikhail's room, her face livid. Sofia gave her a reassuring hug and went in the room. She wanted to gasp at the scenery before her but she kept a straight face. There were pieces of broken glass shattered everywhere on the floor, along with pieces of wood. The chair that Mikhail used to sit on was broken beyond repair. The pillows were torn apart.
Mikhail was tied on the bed, screaming while Ivan looked at his brother, despair in his eyes. The older man had a fresh wound on his right cheek from what appeared to be a knife. Sofia's assumption was confirmed when she found said knife bloodied and on the floor next to him.The raw screams of Mikhail brought her tears. She'd never heard so much agony and pain from a patient. She opened the bag she had brought with her and retrieved a syringe and a sedative.
"Mikhail, can you hear me?" she asked while approaching him.
"Get away from me, you whore. How could you do this to me? He was everything I've wanted", he shouted.
He appeared to be in a psychotic phase of hallucination. He fought against his restrains as she looked for a vein.He calmed down several minutes after having been injected with the medecine. Ivan looked at her, tears glistening in his eyes.
"Will my brother ever be the same as before?"
Sofia didn't have to answer him as he already knew the answer.
"Go get some rest. I'll stay here with him. Flora's worrying about you and it's not good for the baby."
He nodded and left, his head down in defeat.Sofia looked down at Mikhail; he seemed so peaceful. He was really breathtaking. She was so tempted to brush the lock of hair which was falling onto his forehead.
"Rina, why did I ever do to you?" he mumbled in his sleep.
He was much more talkative in his sleep.
She really wanted to know who this Rina was. She had a feeling she had a lot to do with Mikhail's condition.
She went to knock on Ivan's door, looking for answers. It was Flora who answered her.
"You need something, baby?"
"Do you know someone named Rina?"
Flora's lip curled in disgust.
"Yes. She was Mikhail's fiancée. She died in the same car crash that left Mikhail disabled."
"You don't seem to like her", Sofia said.
It was a real surprise; Flora liked everyone.
"She was evil. I know I shouldn't be ill talking about someone who's dead but she was a bitch. She was a gold digger. I don't understand how Mikhail could love her."Maybe it was the shock of losing his fiancée that left him with this conversion disorder. He must have really loved her. Strangely she couldn't help feeling the jealousy which spread through her veins. It was a stupid reaction, one she couldn't understand. Mikhail wasn't her love interest. Why would she felt jealous?
She returned to his room, looking at the mess he had made. She still had a long time before he woke up so she'd use this spare time to tidy up this room.
