18. Another "Something New"

Chapter 18

After fixing your mascara and finally feeling better, you pick up your phone again to call Kelly.

"Hi."

"Hey do you wanna maybe hang out or go do something right now?"

"I can't..."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm just getting really sick and I'm sitting in my bed right now with tissues all around me watching netflix... It's not a pretty sight." She laughed uncomfortably.

"Okay... Feel better."

"I'll try! Bye..."

"Yeah, bye." Tears start to fall down your cheeks and you feel so alone. Like no one's there for you. That's when you think of the last person you can call.

"Hi..."

"Hey, what's up?"

"Nothing much..." You cleared your throat. "Actually, I'm not doing so great."

"What's wrong? Are you crying?"

"Yeah, I just feel really shitty right now. Jack and I... Well Jacks just being a jerk and Kelly's busy so I was just wondering if I could maybe come over? It's fine if you don't-"

"Do you want me to come pick you up?"

"Yeah..." You uncrossed your legs and got up from your bed.

"I'll be over in like 10 minutes, okay?"

"Thanks Leo."

You walked over to your closet to find something to change into. Your vision was slightly blurred as you pushed aside hanger after hanger. You eventually gave up and grabbed a hoodie and jeans before heading downstairs to wait for Leo. You guys weren't that close because he had always just been "Kelly's boyfriend" and you two had never hung out just the two of you before. He really has been there for you though when you've needed some one to talk to or just some one to listen. You saw his car pull up outside and you told your mom that you were leaving. You walked outside and got in his car. You looked down at your lap, knowing that any second you would start crying again.

"Hey."

"Hey. You sure you wanna go to my house? We can go somewhere else if you want."

"Yeah I'm sure. Thanks for picking me up I just really didn't want to be alone."

"Yeah I get it. Um, so I talked to Kelly a couple minutes ago and she... Well she wasn't sick." He looked over at you. You could feel his eyes on you.

"What do you mean?" You wiped away the tears lining your eyes.

"She asked me if I wanted to go with her to some movie tonight." You looked straight ahead at the road and finally realized what was going on.
