Chapter 16
"Ring, Ring, Ring!"
You turn over towards the bedside table and pick up your phone. You decline the call and sit up. You lift up the comforter and see your naked body quickly pulling it back down. You rolled over onto your stomach and pressed your face into your pillow. Small moans escaped from your mouth as you remembered what had happened earlier. You stand up, slip on your teeshirt, and sleepily walk out to the bathroom. Your legs feel sore and you find it hard to walk without pain. Goosebumps raise on your skin as you walk along the tiled floor. You stop to look at yourself in the mirror. Your hairs still wavy from when you curled it this morning and your eyes have mascara smeared under them tearing up earlier. You reached up and wiped the mascara away, remembering Jack doing the same thing and telling you not to cry. You look down at your body, turning from side to side, trying to see if you looked any different. The corners of your mouth crept up into a huge smile. You started laughing and walked out of the bathroom. You picked your phone up and scrolled down through your contacts.
"Hey..."
"Hey, Jack! Where'd you go this morning?"
"I just... Had a family thing."
"Oh okay. Can you hang out later? I miss you already..."
"How can you miss me already? We just saw each other last night."
"I - I just do. Is everything okay? Did I not do a good job or something?"
"No."
"Okay, so can you hangout?"
"Not today. Look, I have to go."
"Okay... Bye I guess."
"Bye."
You pressed the end button and put your clothes back on over you cold skin. The same skin that had been pressed up against Jack the night before.
