Percy

Dream

I was sitting in a living room. Annabeth, now 39, snuggled up next to me. She had a few gray streaks in her hair, but she was still as beautiful as ever.

"Daddy, Luke won't let me have the remote!" A little girl about 7 shouts. She had long blond hair, like Annabeth's, but her eyes where sea-green like mine.

A boy about 11 or 12 entered the room. He had messy, untamable, black hair and stormy gray eyes. "You don't need the remote, Bianca, you're a little kid" The boy, Luke, I assumed, said. The girl, Bianca, pouted and reached for the remote. I watch them fight over it.

All of the sudden the doorbell rang. Annabeth got up to answer it. In came Leo and Calypso. "Uncle Leo! Aunt Calypso!" Bianca and Luke cried. "Uncle Leo in da house!" Leo called. Calypso rolled her eyes.

As Leo played with Luke and Bianca, and Annabeth and Calypso caught up,  I gazed around the room. Without warning, everyone and everything froze. Leo's helicopter froze in mid-air and Annabeth stopped mid-sentence. "What might have been," a deep voice said. "What might have been".

I woke with her name in my mouth. Annabeth. I heard a low growl. I instantly took Riptide out of my pocket and uncapped it. The sword let off a soft glow, just enough that I was able to see a pack of hellhounds in front of me. Their eyes glowed red, and they looked like they wanted to tear me to pieces, which they probably did.

I leaped up. It was the wrong move. The first hellhound leaped towards me. I slashed at it with Riptide and then stabbed the one behind it. I got into a sort of rhythm. Duck, slash, stab, repeat. Soon all that was left was dust.

Suddenly my back exploded in pain. I screamed and fell to my knees, dropping Riptide. I heard someone laugh behind me. He kicked Riptide away from me. I painfully turned around. Kronos stood there, his mouth twisted into a smile, holding a dagger dripping with blood. My blood.

"Perseus Jackson" Kronos said. "Two-time savior of Olympus, cheated on by his girlfriend, banished to Tartarus, and dead at the hands of Kronos". At the last of these words, he leaped towards me and drove his dagger into my chest. I screamed and fell flat on my back. It hurt worse than anything I had ever experienced. I could hear Kronos laughing above me, and then the world went black.
