Chapter 10

Emma's P.O.V

Austin has brought me to a skatepark there next to his house, it is too early it's now nine o'clock on a Sunday. Even you can see all the windows closed of the houses. Austin was skating while I was on floor with his backpack next to me. The truth is that Austin is so good skating, he has much control over the skate and he looks very focused on what he does.

"So why am I here?" I yelled so he could hear me.

"We have things to talk to and this skatepark is like my third home so" He said. Third home? I wonder what's his second home I don't know why, I'm just wondering.

When Austin finally stop skating, he approached me, he left skate over his backpack and sat next to me breathing very heavily. His gaze was glued in nothing. Suddenly he took a junior mint into his mouth.

Why does he eat junior mints like always? Whatever ugh.

"Well you probably didn't notice that on Monday and all this past week I knew exactly you weren't okay, am I right?" He said looking at me.

"Probably" I said.

"So at first I didn't want to ask you but well I wanted but I didn't for two reasons. Because you weren't okay in that moment and because you would've yelled at me like you always do" He said chuckling at the last part.

I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing at the time, Austin being considered with someone. Instead of doing what everyone did that was ask me what was wrong, he was silent for not bother me. He didn't want to bother me.

"And how did you know? Because I tried to act natural" I said pulling my jersey sleeves down, it was freezing.

"Because no one can act natural when they're not okay Emma, it's impossible. Like happiness, no one can be always happy, it's not human" He said licking his lips and looking at me.

In that moment I scanned Austin's face trying to process what I was saying and what he was saying was completely true, I wasn't acting natural, I wasn't me. If I was me I would be messing with Austin and syaing he's annoying as fuck but nothing. I only know Austin since two weeks ago and for some reason I feel that he knows me and I don't understand why.

"So I was wondering If you wanted to tell me what's wrong, we are here alone and I won't tell anyone Emma" He said running a hand through his hair pulling it up a bit.

"On Monday I received a call from a person I haven't seen in a long time ago, too long to be exact .. My brother Jacob called me It's been so long since I talked to him.." I said.

"Since when don't you talk to him?" Austin asked.

"4 years ago.." I said.

"Wow, and why isn't he living with you and your parents?" He said.

"When I was 15 Jacob was 19, one day he came home late at about 4 am and I was sleeping but I started to hear my parents fighting with Jacob loudly. I didn't hear about the story of the fight but the last thing I heard was Jacob say 'This time I won't come back anymore' and my parents said 'You will come back, you always come back' I heard a loud door slam and I haven't seen Jacob since then. And on Monday after four long years, I heard his voice for the first time" I said smiling at the last part.

"And what did he want?" He said.

"Well he had some good news for me, but he won't tell me by phone. He wants to talk in person" I said.

"Where does he live?"

"Old New York" I said getting up from the floor.

Austin did the same and he placed his backpack over his shoulders grabbing his skate. Austin stood in front of me looking straight at me.

"Let's go to New York"

"Austin are you crazy? My parents will kill me and more If it's to go to see Jacob!" I said raising my voice a little.

"Oh c'mon you have the right to go to see your brother and you will go with me, I know New York like the back of my hand. With me you'll be safe, I promise" He said.

"I don't know Austin is a risk"

"Life is full of risks, they are the life of the life" He paused.

"Just think about it"
