I forgot to mention (I think) but it is set on Clockwork Princess.

And! I don't remember if Jem told them about the yin fen business to the TMI gang so here he just prefers to maintain his condition a secret.

The next morning, Isabelle was woken up by Sophie, who gave her a blue dress of someone called Jessamine to wear it. She assured her that the proprietary of it never used it and would most likely never use it.

But Izzy was not insisting because of that, it was because of the dress itself. It was nothing like what she used to wear and it looked very uncomfortable.

Though deep down she knew that to make them less suspicious she would need to wear it.

She was not looking very forward to her stay in the late 1800's.

Truth be told, after she put it on (without help, mind you) she didn't look half bad. Her hair stayed loose. She liked it that way.

Breakfast was a quiet affair. Nobody said much and she wondered if this was a common thing here and now. From her family, only she and Clary were there. And yes, she considered Clary a sister. She also was wearing a dress, but hers was orange and her hair was tied in an untidy bun.

After a very tired Jem entered (again, she was worried and curious about what made him being... silverish. The Jem of their time had told them that what made him a special Silent Brother was not something he liked to talk about.), Jace decided to make an entrance.

He was dressed in gear and was a little bit sweaty.

"Hello," he said and took a seat.

"Why are you wet?" Henry asked him curiously.

He was about to make a sarcastic (and probably dirty) remark about what Henry said but decided against it, "I woke up early so I asked Cyril to take me to the training room."

Henry nodded in understanding and kept eating.

"Well, Jemmy, you look much better," Charlotte told him.

"Jemmy?" Tessa and Jace said with amusement.

He shrugged and said, "I am, quite. The Silent Brothers were of great assistance." He reached to pour himself a cup of tea.

That took them by surprise, why was he seeing the Silent Brothers? He must be terribly ill. Maybe that's the cause of his silver state.

But what took them more by surprise was that, not so later, a certain warlock appeared.

It was difficult identifying him at first glance because he dressed very different and didn't have a spark of glitter on him.

But it was him.

She would bet her dress that it was him.

"Hello, my name is Magnus Bane," he introduced himself to the strangers.

"Have you eaten any breakfast yet?" Izzy asked him. She had seen Magnus pre and post breakfast so she knew he had eaten none.

"No."

"Then sit with us," she invited him.

He looked at her weirdly but obliged. Never a Shadowhunter had said that to him so cheerfully.

"I get that you are gonna cure Simon," Izzy changed the subject.

"If that's the name of your friend, then yes, I'll try. I haven't seen him yet."

"What?" Alec, that just so happened to enter, said. He was dressed in something similar to Will and had Max in his arms, still looking human. "He is the best warlock you know of?"

It didn't sound mean to her but to Magnus it apparently did. "Do you have a problem, dear?"

Alec's cheeks flushed and he shook his head.

"Pa..pa..." Max exclaimed in his adorable baby voice. He looked at Alec and then started moving and extended his arms to Magnus.

"What is he doing?" Magnus asked confused to Alec.

"He wants you to carry him," Clary explained.

Unconsciously, Alec had started to move closer to Magnus so when Max jumped he landed on Magnus's chest.

He started to cling on his neck and Magnus asked, "Is he trying to strangle me?"

"N-no, but don't worry, let me get him off you." With his heart aching, Alec grabbed Max and carried him away. He instantly started crying.

Max didn't understand. Dad had told him that they were not gonna see Rafe nor Papa in some days, what upset him. He didn't saw them when he woke up. But here he was and acting as he didn't know him. And Dad was acting strange too. He had taken him away from his Papa.

Plus, normally, when they first saw in the morning or just at random times they would kiss. That had not happened today.

"Is he alright?" Magnus asked concerned.

"Y-yes," Alec replied while taking a loaf of bread and a some of the special baby food that the cook had prepared for Max. "Don't worry, I'll calm him."

Alec disappeared to his room.

He didn't plan on going out of his room.

He was a mess.

It was Magnus the one he saw. Even without glitter and with those odd clothes he could recognize him.

But it was not his Magnus.

That Magnus didn't know him.

That Magnus never fought alongside him against Valentine and Sebastian or his Endarkened.

Not the Magnus who was like a father to Raphael Santiago or the one who still had nightmares about him.

And certainly not the father of Max or Rafael.

He remembered the time Simon lost his memories... how he had seen his sister at her worst trying to be fine.

He felt the same now, but it was different. Simon gained his memories back. But Magnus had no memories to recover since it hadn't happened yet.

"Shhh, please calm down Max," Alec comforted him and pulled him closer to his chest. "Do you want to eat? Sophie said that the cook did it just for you. Don't worry about Dad or Papa, we are fine."
