Heartbroken [Completed] [Wattys 2019]

  Percy still hasn't come out of his cabin. He locked himself in yesterday morning and hasn't come out yet today even though its lunch... I wonder if he's eaten anything?

  My thoughts are interrupted when Will comes up to me.

  "hey Neeks, how's it going?" He slid onto the bench next to me at the Hades table and glanced at my plate with a slight smile. He thinks he's the reason I've started eating more but it's honestly Jason. That boys acts like my mom times 10.

  "I told you not to call me that," i growled.

  He just chuckled, "your cute and i want a cute name for you. So i'm gonna keep calling you Neeks."

  "I hate that. You know that too, yet you keep doing it." I really hated this name. Bianca used to call me this and Percy did a couple times before Bianca died and the name just holds too many sad memories.

  He laughed quietly before standing and ruffling my hair, "yeah i know you hate it Neeks. Are we still on for tonight?"

  "Yeah, sure whatever." Will frowned a little before smiling widely and walking away. When he left if seemed like the room dropped 10 degrees. Must be a child of Apollo thing.

  He's been getting on my nerves more lately. It's like he tries to annoy me: I tell him not to call me Neeks- he calls me Neeks; I want time alone- he never gives it to me even when I tell him to leave me alone. More stuff too but our relationship has been wearing thin lately. I do love him, i truly do- but now that we're leaving the honeymoon phase, I'm not sure how well we're going to work out.

  My thoughts are interrupted by the one and only Jason Grace sliding onto my bench right where Will had just been sitting.

  "What's up with you? You look like you might murder someone." He said with a slight smirk.

  I just rolled my eyes and answered, "Will."

  "Ah." Jason knows everything that's been going on with him and my feelings towards him. "What are you planning on doing? If you did end it, I wouldn't blame you, the guy's way too upbeat. And you guys are, like, polar opposites."

  Here he goes again, immediately trying to comfort me. It's nice though, knowing he'll support my decision, no matter what. Throughout the whole Giant War it seemed like he was the Team Mom™. He was always the one to comfort people and was great at just holding us together, as one unit. 

  I answered his question. "I don't know yet. It seems like he tries to annoy me though and I hate it."

  Jason nodded in understanding and opened his mouth to say something when Leo suddenly ran up to us panting. Instead of telling us something though, he just slid across the table from us with a smug look on his face and excitement in his eyes.

  Jason and I glanced at each other, wondering if we should give him what he wants- attention from us asking him what's going on- but despite my stubbornness at the situation Jason still asked.

  "So, uh, Leo? Do you have something you want to tell us?"

  Leo gasped dramatically and said, "I thought you'd never ask." He got an eye roll from me and a chuckle from Jason. "Percy and Annabeth... broke up!"

  I was shocked. Leo loved our reactions though and I could tell he was about to catch on fire when Jason started bombarding him with questions.

  "What happened? Who ended it? Are they okay? Are they heartbroken? Why did it happen? Tell me, Leo!"

  "Listen, all I heard was that they broke up and Percy was the one to officially end it but it was a kinda mutual thing and he felt obligated to do it. Annabeth seems fine, just a little reserved and I haven't seen Percy."

  I still hadn't moved but I finally pulled myself out of my shock. "Percy went into his cabin yesterday and I haven't seen him since either. That's probably why."

  Jason immediately jumped up. "We've gotta go check on him!"

  "No!" I yelled almost immediately, then blushed a little. "Give him some time alone to think. This is a huge change for anyone, especially him with his loyalty."

  Jason seemed a bit shocked at first but then nodded, "yeah, I guess that makes sense. If we don't see him by tomorrow though, I'm checking on him and you can't stop me."

  I nodded. It was a good idea to let him process but he also shouldn't be alone too long with just his thoughts.

  "Alright, well, I've gotta go build some awesome stuff so I'll see you guys later?"

  Jason responded, "Yeah, see ya," while I just waved. Jason then walked off deep in thought with a quick goodbye, leaving me alone.

  I hope Percy isn't too torn up over this. Unfortunately, I think he will be, just because he's too loyal.
