“Gerard! Come help me decorate the tree!” You yelled up the steps. Your boyfriend was just sitting in the office, scrolling through his twitter feed. You hear his chair squeak as he got up and heard the patting of his socked feet coming down the wooden steps. He grabbed you around the waist and pecked your cheek. You smiled, and then turned around to face the mess in front of you.
Huge totes of decorations were strewn across your living room, and you didn’t know which ones were ornaments or which ones were gifts you had picked up last year. You turned back around and looked at Gerard.
“Okay, you take this side, I’ll take this side. We need to find the lights, tinsel and ornaments. Got it?” you asked him, pretending like this was some covert spy mission that was top secret.
“Got it. Alpha bravo go go go!” he said, hopping over boxes to one that was tucked in a corner. You laughed as he hid behind it and ever so slightly stuck his head up to look at you. He smiled when you laughed and opened the box.
You opened the box nearest you and found tons of tangled lights. You pulled them out and untied them, one by one. You then carefully carried all of them over to an outlet to test them. Only two strings of the lights worked, but you just threw the ones that were broken back into the box. You strung them around the tree you and Gerard had picked yesterday and plugged them into to make sure they looked good. You stepped back and motioned Gerard over. He walked over to you and wrapped his arms around your waist from behind.
“Fleur it’s gorgeous.” He said, smiling down at you and kissing your head.
“Babe there isn’t anything on it but lights,” you said, looking back at him with a raised eyebrow.
“I know, but it’s still amazing because you did it,” he replied, smiling. You blushed and hugged him.
“Okay did you find the ornaments yet? We should probably get them on the tree because I have a lot of baking to do later,” you said, searching through totes. Finally, Gerard found the tote and carefully brought out smaller boxes and boxes of ornaments. You looked at the tree and placed an ornament according to how the branches fell.
When you finally finished it, you stepped back to admire the work. It looked good, but it was missing something. The star!
“Gerard, you need to lift me up so I can put the star on the tree!” you said, grabbing the star and looking at him. He chuckled and lifted you up like you would lift a little kid. You placed the star on the top of the tree, and when he set you down, you smiled widely. You turned around and looked at Gerard.
“This Christmas is going to be amazing.
