School had let out in time for me to dodge Onika's spell for the rest of the day.
Lyndall was supposed to be at my house shortly, my mama was at her salon, her husband was doing whatever he did, and my brother was most likely at the studio.
My mother and I's relationship had officially perished once she married her husband when I was 13. My parents got a divorce when I was only 5 years old while Solange was 9, as a 5 year old I didn't quite understand what was going on while everyone else had been clearly deeply affected by it. We had to move from our big house with a huge backyard, a huge front lawn, and space for some of my extended family. One day my dad quit his job to push my sister Solange to sing, but she just did not want to.
Solange hated big spotlights but the girl could sing and dance very smoothly. She preferred being behind the scenes, which is why she now is majoring in Film & Television Production at Layola University.
I always say to her how unfortunate the circumstances were but how beneficial they were as well now that she has found her purpose in life.
My mother did not handle the divorce well, her drinking and smoking addiction began very shortly after. She has been smoking cigarettes and consuming alcohol more than recreationally since then.
My mom used to be my best friend until she started to grow resentment towards my sister and I, my sister heavily though. While her and my sister went at it, I sang and painted. I wanted to stay out of my mother's way as much as possible. Especially when she wasn't in her right state of mind.
When she went to her shop she was a completely different person. She was a therapist to her customers, she listened to their problems and through the power of hair she made them feel better. She lifted women with confidence as she tore down mine and my sister's.
I can't be mad at her anymore because I know that she suffered from the worst loss, a lover. When you vow to be with someone 'until death do us part' in the knowles family, you mean it. Even if you are under the same roof with different partners, so be it. That's how the Knowles' family rides, until the wheels fall off.
I was hoping that my mother would find love again someday, but not Ivan. He is not love.
The doorbell rang snapping me out of my thoughts. It was Lyndall. I told him to come in and we went to my room and left the door open of course.
We laid together in a comfortable position and watched reruns of Martin. His member inched closer and closer to my asś, I could feel his erection on me.
He rubbed my thigh and rested his hand on my womanhood.
"So how you been baby?" he asked kissing on my cheek and down to my neck.
I bit my lip to hide the moan that nearly escaped from my mouth.
"I've been good," I responded and moved from him.
He sighed, "here you go with that bullshit."
"What?" I asked in all forms of perplexity.
I was now sitting up and we were facing each other.
"I mean, a nigga drove 18 miles to come see you and you still just wanna talk. We've been 'just talking' for 7 months now, I have my needs too."
My heart dropped, he's right.
