It was an 8 hour drive from the Valley to Dallas. As much as I wanted to sleep, I couldn't, I was too scared. I miss my family and Hunter already. I really regret acting like a bitch towards them.

"We're in Dallas already sweetie. In about ten minutes we'll be at the home." The lady driver says.

"Home?"

"The hospital is not really like one of those hospitals it's more like a home, they'll treat you like family."

I choose to be quiet, looking down at my hands, not bothering to catch sight of the beautiful city I'm in.

"We're here." The lady says.

I look out the window, seeing a green sign.

'Timberlawn Mental Health System.' It said.

The lady drives more into the place. I start panicking, trying to open the locked doors when I the white looking mansion coming in sight.

"Sweetie, you have to calm down or else you'll start off in the white room."

"White room?"

"It's a room where they put the patients for a couple hours to calm down."

'Oh God, I've seen that in the movies.'

I start taking deep breaths, thinking good things which calms me down a bit.

The lady parks the car. Two strong looking men step out of the home and get me out. One is holding on to my arm while the other has my suitcase.

A lady comes out of the house. She looked so elegant in her pencil skirt and blazer.

"Welcome to Timberlawn Veronica. I'm Doctor Krystal Everette, but you're more than welcome to call me Krystal. I'm also your new psychiatrist. Any questions?"

I shake my head.

"Okay then. We have to get you changed into the uniform."

We both go inside together. She doesn't give me time to look around because she's quickly pulling on my arm leading me into an empty room.

"Change into this while I search through your suitcase." She says passing me a set of clothes.

It was uncomfortable, I had to change out of my regular bra into a sports bra right in front of her. Now I'm wearing a long light pink dress with some white slippers.

"Krystal?"

"Yes, dear?"

"Why do I have to wear a sports bra?"

"It's mandatory."

Once I'm done changing I pass her my old clothes and shoes. Then we step out of the room, my hand in hers.

"Joey, take her suitcase to her room while I show her around." She says to the security. The big guy only nods, walking away.

"Every week on a Tuesday at exactly 4:00 pm one of the security's will pick you up and walk you to a room where we will have group therapy." With that being said she starts leading me somewhere.

"This is where the group meets for therapy." She says, opening a door revealing a huge plain room with white chairs placed in a huge circle.

"This is an all ages place, but you'll be separated with people closer to your age to make you more comfortable. Sure, you'll see boys throughout the day, but when you sleep you'll be in separate hallways that is watched by a security, so no trying to sneak out."

'Does she think I'm some kind of slut? Because I'm not.'

"I'm only telling you that because a lot of the girl's like to sneak out, same goes for the boys too."

"Okay." I mumble.

"This is the cafeteria." She says, opening a door leading into a room with a bunch of tables.

"Like I said you'll be spending a lot of time with other teenagers, so you're more than welcome to sit with other people." She quickly says then takes my hand, leading me somewhere else.

"Since you're seventeen, I think you'll be graduating here."

"But I'm leaving before I finish my twelfth year."

"We tend to teach faster."

"Okay."

"This is the school hallway. These rooms are just a bunch of classes. Saturdays and Sundays will be free days. All the rooms change into activity rooms. Sort of like art, music..."

"Music? Like with instruments?"

"Yes, you play any?"

"Just the guitar."

"That's good, you can maybe teach the other patients how to play."

We walk away from the hallway.

"This is the room where you have free time, for an hour or so, as soon as lunch is over. Sort of like recess." She opens the door. There were a bunch of teenagers. I'm not even nervous anymore because they all have problems in their life like me.

Some stop what they're doing to look at me. There's music playing lightly. I look over to where it's coming from.

A stereo was placed in the corner. No one is sitting by it. I found my spot where I can be while I'm here.

"Let's go, Veronica." Krystal says taking my hand, leading me somewhere else.

"These are the showers for the girls, you and your roommate share a restroom in your room. We also have all the necessities for girls here, so if you're on your period just ask."

"Okay."

"I guess we're all done here. Let's get you settled into your new room." She says.

We enter my room, it's not small nor big. There's two twin size beds on each side.

Krystal sets my bed while I take the time to look around.

"Why isn't there a window?"

"People would try to escape so we ended up putting bars on them. The suicidal patients would only break them and try killing themselves, some succeeded, unfortunately."

"Do you know my roommate?"

"Yes, Alicia. She's a quiet one with O.C.D so please try to stay clean."

I open my suitcase. Inside was just a bunch of books, shampoos, toothbrushes, etc...

"If you're to run out we'll keep you stocked up."

"Thanks."

"Oh, also if we catch you trying to commit suicide, weeks will be added to your stay here."

'Great.'

"And every Friday's we do mandatory body checks."

"Body checks?"

"The nurses basically search your body for any self harm marks."

"What if I have old scars?"

"I was informed of the ones on your thighs, legs-"

She grabs my arms, looking at my wrist.

"-these too. I have some blue rubber band bracelets. Want some to cover up your scars?"

"Yeah."

She pulls out four bracelets from her blazer pocket. I take them from her, they all say 'I survived'.

This is going to be my home for nine months. Might as well behave so I can leave earlier.

"Good luck here Veronica." Krystal says with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
