"Arthur's here, Ronnie." Mom says coming into my room.

"But it's Monday he's not supposed to be here until Thursday."

"Just go to the backyard, he's waiting."

I don't bother to put on shoes and quickly I make my way to the backyard.

"What's so important you had to bother me on a Monday, Arthur?" I ask him.

"I just wanted an excuse to see your mother."

"Are you freaking serious?"

"Yes."

"You're acting like a love sick puppy."

"So?"

"It's disgusting. You're old."

"I'm not that old Ronnie."

"How old are you?"

"38."

"That's freaking old."

"Be quiet, so I heard you have a new friend. To be more specific a boyfriend."

"I'm not going to sit here and talk to you about our crushes like we're a bunch of lovesick teenagers."

"So you like him?"

"What? No!"

"You just called him your crush."

"Did I? My mistake I meant...."

"Don't start rambling Ronnie. Your secret's safe with me."

"So what's with the chess?" I ask, pointing to the board game in his lap.

"I bought it to maybe play with your mom."

I burst out laughing, which felt good because I haven't done it in a long time.

"It's good to hear you laugh for a change Ronnie, but why are you doing it?"

"You want to play chess with my mom?" I say in-between laughter.

"Yes, so?"

"You're such a loser. Even I, a girl with no experience with boys knows that's boring."

"Chess is not boring."

"Let me guess where you took her on a date that one time. A museum!"

"It was an art show and I'll have you know that she had fun."

"Arthur I know Marilyn and I know for sure she did not have fun at this art show. For god sakes she doesn't even care for art. Did you at least get a kiss on the cheek at the end of the date?"

"No."

"She hated the date then." I state.

"Then tell me what she likes."

"I'm going to go call her so you guys can talk, you can get to know what she likes and what she doesn't like."

"Thanks, Ronnie."

"But first give me that damn board game."

"What are you going to do with it?"

"Put it in the trash, where it belongs."

"I just bought it."

I start walking away, ignoring him.

When I get inside I go to the kitchen where I know Marilyn's at.

"Marilyn, Arthur needs to talk to you."

"I am not even going to pester you anymore to call me mom."

"Good, because I wasn't going to stop. Marilyn."

She kisses my forehead.

"Stubborn girl. Where's Arthur?"

"Still in the backyard."

She leaves and the doorbell suddenly rings. Opening it, I see Dylan.

"Dylan?"

When we first texted was also the last time we texted. I thought he had forgotten about me.

"Hey." He smiles.

"Are you here for Ivan? Because he isn't here."

"No, I'm not here for Ivan. I came to hang out with you."

I let him in and we go to the living room.

"How do you know where I live?"

"Ivan told me."

"Ivan's at basketball practice. How come you're not there?"

"I told my coach I had the flu."

"What do you want to do?"

"I was thinking about taking you to the movies."

'No.'

"What about we watch a movie here? It's free."

"Fine by me."

"Let's go to my room so my mom won't bother us."

"You better not try to seduce me Ronnie because I'll easily go along with it." He says.

"Shut up." I grumble.

When we get to my room, Dylan immediately lays on my bed.

We ended up watching 'Pretty In Pink'.

"You better not tell anyone but that's one of my favorite movies." Dylan says.

"Really? Mine too."

My door opens, revealing Hunter. He's in basketball too, so he's freshly showered only adding to his attractiveness.

"Dylan?"

"Hunter?" They say at the same time.

'Awkward.'

"I think I'll be leaving now." Dylan say's getting up.

He does the unthinkable and kisses the corner of my lips. That was the first time a boy's ever kissed me like that.

"How was basketball practice?" I ask Hunter, trying to clear the awkwardness.

"Interesting, but this is more interesting. What did you two do?"

"We just watched a movie."

"You two didn't kiss or anything?"

"No."

"Then what was that when he left?"

"I really don't know."

Two weeks later on a Thursday.

"So how have you been feeling Ronnie?" Arthur asks.

"Honestly a bit better than I've ever felt."

"You have?"

"Yes."

"Does your new friend have anything to do with it?"

"No."

He smirks.

"Right." He starts.

"Shut up, Arthur."

"Why are you blushing Ronnie?"

"I am not blushing, it's just too hot out here."

"Sure."
