I couldn't stay still in my room. I was too excited to go outside to see the stars.
I jump up and down when my door opens.
"Ready?" The new security guard asks.
"Yes!"
"Be quiet or else you will get us caught."
"Sorry." I whisper.
He walks me to the exit.
"Where's Andrew?"
"He's outside already."
"He is?"
The security nods, opening the door.
"Remember, thirty minutes."
"Okay." I say stepping out into the darkness.
"Oh my gosh." I gush when the beautiful stars are in sight.
"You missed the stars?" Andrew asks.
"Terribly."
I walk over to him, hugging him tightly.
"Thanks for doing this for me Andrew."
"You're very welcome."
We both lay on the blanket that was sprawled on the grass.
Putting my arms behind my head, I stare up at the stars. The same stars I'd stare at with Hunter and my dad.
"I have to confess something Ronnie."
"What is it?"
"In exactly three weeks I'll be leaving back to Houston."
"You are?" I ask trying to sound excited, but it actually came out more as a dejected tone. He's the only friend that I have here right now.
"Krystal noticed a change in my attitude and said if I continued with it I can leave in three weeks."
"Where will you go if your aunt doesn't want you?"
"Turns out my aunt did write, it's just that my bad behavior prevented me from getting the letters."
"That sucks."
"I'd never lay a hand on a woman, but when Krystal told me that I was so tempted to punch her in the face."
"I'm going to miss you a lot Andrew."
"Me too. You're the reason I'm leaving this place, I want to thank you."
"How am I the reason you're leaving?"
"Well, since I've started hanging out with you. You've been distracting me from getting in so much trouble."
~~Three weeks later.~~
Saying goodbye to a close friend is hard. First it was Alicia now it's Andrew.
"I'll give you a call when I get out." I tell him while hugging him tightly.
"Okay, but please don't cry." He says.
I didn't even realize the tears on my face.
"Here." He takes off the cross necklace around his neck that he always wears, putting it around my neck.
"Thanks."

Couple months pass and before you know it May comes around, May 5th to be more specific or in other words my birthday. I'm finally eighteen.
Krystal comes in my room, interrupting me from playing Hunter's guitar.
"Yes?"
"Happy 18th birthday." She says passing me a blueberry muffin.
