My ears couldn't beleive what they were hearing. Immune?? How could I be immune when there was no cure to this disease. My mind drifted over the letter in which Anna had referred to father calling me special. Was this my speciality? Was I an answer to all my questions?
"But there was no cure." I blurted out.
"We know. But you need to listen carefully." Father got up, his eyes focused on the window but mentally he was somewhere else and it wouldn't be completely false to state that he didn't want to look me in the eyes.
"You both were in an accident after which Anna was held captive." He started.
"Anna was your elder sister. Your father Gregory was a charming man and my best friend as well. The montegrals ruled over the state of Profenyork. Whereas the other family, the Lockhurts were the semi-rulers. It was all going great.
And then Black blood happened. It was a helpless disease with no cure, it destroyed both families. No one knows where the disease came from but no one knows about your immunity too. Your father, where everyone else in the family helped run the business, he had studied medicine. He was the only doctor both ruling families had. Of course. Why would they need family doctors? When the black blood started striking, your father knew that their rule was at an end. The other three families. The Stillmers, Rays(ongoing rulers) and Websters were eager to take over."
Thud
A weird sound was heard. It took me a second to register what had happened
Mother was lying on the floor.
"Lee. I'm not feeling well." She called me. I hurried towards her. Her face was filled with sweat, even her hands were shaking.
"I'll call an ambulance. Father? Hold her up."
My words did'nt get a reply I turned to see that father was lying on the floor in the same condition as mother.
His hands trembling. None of them could speak.
What was happening??? I picked up the phone and called for the ambulance.
Then I pulled mom and dad up their backs pressed againt the couch, gave them some water. The most strange thing was they were drifting to sleep.
The ambulance arrived in about ten minutes.

"Mr lewis?"
"Yes doctor."
"Your parents both, seem to have been overdosed on something. We are trying to save them."
Overdosed? Why would they be overdosed? They were alot more concious then taking more medicines then required.
"How can they get overdosed??"
"Are they on any kind of medication?"
Medication? Oh yes they both had had diabeties for almost two years now.
"Yes, they both are diabetic."
"Okay. We are washing their stomachs. When it's done. I want you to go get their medicines."
"Okay."
With that the doctor went back tk the operation theatre.
What was going on? They were my last hope. They were my saviours yet they were here in the hospital. Why would they take wrong medicines? What more strange was. How could they both do the same thing. I would have cried if this was'nt in the middle of everything that was already happening. An unexpected turn out of events, it had been. I could'nt stop myself for a while from feeling that all these occurences were somehow connected.
I could'nt bring myself to move away from the operation theatre. My mind was full of questions and memories of the time we had had together. Father had always been very supportive to me. He allowed me to take the subjects I liked instead of sciences. He always considerred my opinion over everyone else's.
Memories started flashing in front of me.
A warm summer night.
At dinner. Mother and father seated across the table with me.
"Why did you skip school today?" Mother had asked.
I had no idea how did she know. The school never called my parents before. I skipped school once in a while to go out with Arora. Back then my parents were'nt aware of us. My mother was a very strick disciplinarian.
"Don't scold him he was'nt feeling well. So I took him to my office."
Father thoroughly replied. He had always been my saviour. I loved him for that.
Later when father had asked me about my whereabouts. I told him about Arora. Eveything was so easy with him. He just replied.
"That girl Lee, is beautiful. Just don't break her heart."
"I won't dad. Thanks."
"Oh and try to be regular for school next time." He winked.
The approaching footsteps of doctor Alex broght me back. He was wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope was curled around his neck.
"Mr. Lewis. Your parents are out of danger but I habe a bad news for you."
I closed my eyes. Reopened them and asked.
"I'm ready to hear."
"Mr and Mrs.kennedy are both in coma. We don't really know when they are getting back. Just don't lose hope. God is with you kid."
I checked myself for the leftover hope. In contrary, I could'nt even think what to hope for.
