"Lee. We should get going now."
Arora was standing behind me.
"Umm sure."
Before putting the book back I secretly took a picture of page sixty four and closed the book.
"So did it help?"
After biding goodbye to Mrs.Amelia Arora said.
"Kind of yes, kind of no..I mean I did find about my family but the information wasn't complete. It looked like someone had removed the whole chapter intentionally from the book." I exclaimed.
"But why would someone do that?"
Arora looked at me in surprise.
It was a nice question. Why?
Only if I knew the answer.
"I Don't know Arora." I reply in dismay.
"So What weird family do you belong to, Lee?"
I knew she would ask. And it was okay for her to ask too but it wasn't okay for me to tell. I didn't know how would it affect her or me. The information I had was too short for me to decide whether it could be revealed or not.
"Arora. I can't tell you that right now."
I sighed wishing she doesn't get offended or anything. But I was worried, would she stop asking?
"Don't worry Lee. I understand."
She then stopped calmly squeezed my hand and said.
"I do Lee. Just let me know if your need help."
My lips curved in a smile. Strange, how normal words could feel sweet coming from her mouth.
"Sure Arora. Who else will I seek?"
********When I came home. Something was different. The front yard was the same , the lounge was same, everything was same but it felt like someone had been here. Who possibly could have been home. Arora was with me. No one else could get in. So who was it?
Then I heard father's sound.
"Hey Man. You're finally home. Where were you??? School ended about an hour before." He eyed the wall clock.
"Hey dad. I was with Arora." Mom came out of her bedroom. It looked like they had just arrived from the luggage that was still scattered in their room.
"Hey dear! We're home. How are you?? And why won't you answer our calls?" She said in an obligatory tone.Wow. So after betraying me they could suddenly appear out of nowhere and ask me if I was doing well or not? How about "I'm black.(referring to my disease) Oh sorry. You guys already know that."
Instead I went on by saying.
"Fine. I need to go." There were more important things than this family drama.
And I flashed into my room opened the laptop and typed "The montegrals" on google.
I opened different links. I looked everything up that started with or had anything similar to the family's name. But,
Just as I had expected. Nothing.
There wasn't even a single word about the montegral family. Not even in the history of the Profenyork. As if they had'nt even existed. As much as I hated to admit it, facts had made two things clear.
1) The montegrals and lockhurts both had been removed from the history.
2) Black blood was not just a disease.
And all the above information concluded,
3) It was all true. And then it struck me. Talking of black blood. I had'nt reached stage four till now. The urges were not even there for the last two days. Stage four was'nt even near yet, hell I was'nt even feeling stage three. No dagger or knife had recently asked me to pick it up and kill something. No river had asked me to drown someone. Arora had been safe with me. The school had been safe from me. How was that so???
Knock knock knock!!
I stood up as I registerred the noise coming from the door.
Mom's worried face was revealed as I opened the door.
"Hey dear. I thought you might be hungry so I brought this."
So she had brought ready to eat fruit this time. Without a knife. Was it because she knew I would use knife for some other purpose?
Of course she knew they both knew. However they did'nt care enough to tell me.
"Thanks mom." I took the fruit plate and shut the door.
After a second I heard mom walking away. They were not my birth parents but they had always been like them. Kind and caring. Then why would they do this to me? Why???
Unintentionally, I went outside my room only to hear mom and dad.
"I'm telling you he's not fine. It's time we tell him." Mom said
What were they talking about? I took precautionary steps towards the kitchen from backside so that I was near the lounge where they were sitting.
"It's our Lewis. Our son. This is not as easy as it sounds." Dad replied.
So it was about me. There was no way they were getting away this time.
"Tell me what mom???" I walked in.
"Lewis dear. You? Did you need anything?"
"Mom, dad. Tell me what I need to know?
NOW!" I said putting alot of force while saying Now. The devastating fire in my eyes could be clearly seen. The fire put on by them!
"Sit down lewis." father said. And then shifted his gaze to mom for a while."You were right Isabel."
"It's time we tell him."
I was now seated on the sofa in between my parents. And father started.
"Lewis dear. You are a Montegral and you are immune to black blood.....
TO BE CONTINUED.Yes. So finally the secret has been revealed but there's still alot to come. Just wait and watch.
