*Tessa*

"So all the charges were dropped?" I asked curiously as I sat in front of my lap top, on my cell phone.

"Yeah." Kellan's voice spoke through the phone after a sigh. "Phillips said the prosecutor decided it wasn't worth going forward with."

"I'm sure he did." I scoffed, looking around the room I was in.

I had been working throughout the morning in Colson's living room on some paper work and calls I hadn't returned, when Kellan called me. He had been informed by the lawyers he assigned to Colson, Rook, and Slim's case that all charges had been dropped and the boys would only have to pay a fine. I couldn't help but feel a bit aggravated at the fact that money was motive. But, in the game Rick and the boys were in, money rules all.

"Well, the city will get a big chunk of change from their fines." Kellan spoke after a few moments of silence. "One less thing we have to worry about."

"Yeah." I spoke, looking out the front window.

Colson's house was a busy place. The people who lived her where in and out all the time, but very respectful. Everyone that had came through had waved or spoke once they realized I was here. After Colson had brought me my coffee he had ventured out, saying he would be back after taking care of somethings with his Pops. I now wondered if meeting with the prosecutor in their case was just that.

"So, you alright? I called Mags this morning after the owner of your building got into contact with me about the incident last night at your loft." Kellan asked.

"Yeah, I'm good. Just shit from my past trying to come back." I ran my fingers through my hair as I closed the lap top in front of me.

"You know you could've came and stayed at my house?"

"Thank's Kellan, but I'm good. I should be able to go back to the loft tonight or the morning." I spoke as I placed files back into my briefcase.

"You sure you want to leave your new found bodyguard?" Kallan spoke, I could hear a bit of anger behind his words.

"What?" I chuckled. "Kellan, they've been nothing but nice to me. He didn't have to open his home to me but he did."

"And I wonder why?"

"Whatever it is your insinuating I don't like it." I spoke, closing the briefcase.

"All I'm saying is your a top lawyer here and look what they do for a living Tess." I rolled my eyes. "And, I know Mr. Baker likes what he see's in you."

"Really Kellan?" I scoffed, growing annoyed.

"It's obvious Tessa. Look how he just so happens to be everywhere you are here lately." Kellan growled out.

"I didn't realize you cared so much, and honestly Kellan so what?" I shot out.

"Oh, c'mon Tess." He sighed.

"No Kellan, your my boss and I've worked for you for many years, so your concern is appreciated. But don't you dare look down your nose at me when it comes to my personal life. It doesn't concern you."

"Tessa, c'mon I didn't mean it like that." He sighed. "You know I care about you and I just want you to be safe. If you begin hanging around with the EST gang, how safe would you actually be?"

"As safe as I have been so far. Kellan, I'm not stupid okay? Colson isn't that bad of a guy and we're just friends."

"Isn't that bad of a guy?" Kellan laughed, but I sensed no sarcasm. "Are you forgetting a few weeks ago when he left his mark on you?"
