"Yo, this is why I told ya'll girls to come back to the VIP with me. But nah man, ya'll gotta be daredevils and run off. Luckily we could see ya'll or Shane and Jared would've scooped ya'll up." Slim had been scolding Ashleigh and I for the past twenty minutes since we had gotten into the limo.
Ashleigh sat on the right side of the limo, head on Dub's shoulder as he had a protective arm around her. I had apologized to her a few times and she said it wasn't my fault because we deserved to be able to enjoy ourselves when we went out. I sat close to the door on the driver side of the car. Colson was sat next to me with Jonsey beside him with a blonde girl he had picked up from the club perched in his lap. I hadn't spoken a word since we climbed inside the limo.
"Bruh, they get it." Baze spoke, passing Slim the joint he had in his hand.
"I don't think they do." Slim sighed before taking a hit.
"Would you please shut up about it already?" I spoke lowly, keeping my eyes cast out the window.
"Excuse me for caring about yo reckless ass." Slim shot out.
"Slim, please." I glanced over at him, my tone never raising as our eyes met. I saw the anger leave his face a bit as he nodded, taking another hit off the blunt before I turned my eyes back out the window.
"Hey." I heard Colson's voice speak softly into my ear as he slide up on me. "Talk to me."
"About what?" I sighed, moving into his touch a bit as he slide an arm around me.
"What's going on in that pretty mind of yours." He placed a kiss to the side of my head before his finger slide under my chin, causing me to look up into his blue eyes.
"So many things." I whispered, my fingers playing with one of the rings on his finger.
"Got anything to do with what Jared said back there?" I glanced up into his eyes again.
"How can you read me like that?"
"I know my lady." He smiled, lacing our fingers together. "I know you want to ask a bunch of questions because the lawyer in you is curious. But I also know you shook."
"It's just been awhile since I've been around men like that." I shivered a bit, laying my head on his chest.
"I got you baby." He kissed my head, holding me tightly.
"Yo Tessa!"
I glanced up, looking toward a half intoxicated Rook who sat between Baze and Dre. I chuckled as he had his sunglasses pushed up into his hair, and his blue eyes where wild from the alcohol and weed he'd consumed.
"Yes Rookie?" I smiled.
"Mags is fuckin' hot yo." He spoke, the guys laughing.
"Rook." I shook my head, looking up at Colson who chuckled, his long leg going out to nudge Rook with his foot.
"Nah bruh, look." He waved his hands around. "She is and I know she a cop and she say she married but ya boy is smitten."
"Awe Rooks." Ashleigh called out.
"Too much woman for you dog." Dub replied, taking the blunt from Dre's outstretched hand.
"What's got your mind on Mags anyways?" I giggled.
"She was at the house today, duh." He spoke in a matter of fact tone as he began moving toward Colson and I. "And, she talked to me like I was someone other than a gang member." He laid his body across our laps causing me to chuckle as he looked up at me, Colson smacking him on the stomach. "She's gorgeous bruh."
"She's married bruh." I mocked him, ruffling his hair. "She also has kids Rooks."
"So? I'm good with kids just ask Cassie." He sat up a bit, Colson groaning.
"Rook get your bony ass off my legs man." Colson spoke, pushing him a bit.
"Rook," I giggled as he pushed his way between Colson and I, much to Colson's objections. "I'm sure she would be flattered, but she's been with Sean for 7 years. I doubt you got a snowballs chance in hell baby."
"Wait," I glanced towards Ace's intrigued face as he sat beside Dub. "Sean Dawson?"
"Mhm." I chuckled as Rook laid his head on my shoulder, I patted his head.
"I know that nigga man." He shot out, sitting up and pointing toward Dre. "Remember the block a year ago, the house fire to cover up Jake?"
"No way man, that's the same fool?" Dre asked.
"Wait, what?" I asked.
"Kels man, 3 pound Dawson son." Slim shot out, looking at his best friend.
"Fuck." Colson sighed, looking toward me as he sat up, then back at his men. "I didn't put two and two together. Jesus."
"Alright I'm lost." I spoke, looking toward Ashleigh who shrugged.
"You got some killer tits man." Rook shot out, his hand reaching toward my chest.
"Yo, Bruh!" Colson jerked him away from me as everyone in the limo busted out laughing.
"Ow bruh!" Rook groaned as he landed on the floor of the limo.
I was laughing too hard to really care about the conversation that had just happened a second ago. I glanced toward Colson and shook my head as I tried to catch my breath, the smile on his face making my heart skip a beat.
